4.0 out of 5 stars Great Bag-Hefty Price
I bought this bag because I was having serious shoulder problems due to carrying my laptop and other items in my messenger bag. A friend recommended this bag to me as she has scoliosis and cannot carry weight that is not evenly distributed. Within one week of using this bag in the backpack form, my shoulder was better. I wanted a bag that could do both the backpack and...

While the padding, spacing etc hints at a good design and the materials seem of good quality, the "assembly" leaves much to be desired.
For example the left front clip is seamed to the flap about half an inch higher than the right clip, and closer to the side edge of the flap. It is hard to describe it, but it very obvious if you look at it that the clips are not at...

While the padding, spacing etc hints at a good design and the materials seem of good quality, the "assembly" leaves much to be desired.
For example the left front clip is seamed to the flap about half an inch higher than the right clip, and closer to the side edge of the flap. It is hard to describe it, but it very obvious if you look at it that the clips are not at the right place: a human making the bag by hand could not possibly err that much, I am at a loss at how poorly designed a machine would have to be to do this.
Anyway, the result of this is that when the bad is closed it always looks crooked. I guess the other smaller seam problems are of minor importance, but in all this would not be good for a $20 bag, let alone a $120 one.
It is a shame though. There are enough compartments to suit most needs, strong materials, plenty of space. I would even give more stars, since the problems are mostly aesthetic, however at this price I expect decent QA, when this bag would not pass cursory visual inspection.

I wanted a bag that could do both the backpack and the messenger bag and this was the best one I found out there. It is super sturdy and should last forever (several other bag owners have had theirs for years). I did not like the price, because I usually don't spend this much on an item that doesn't plug in, but it did eliminate my shoulder issue and holds everything neatly.

I love it, perfect for me. Very comfortable while I do not look like a school kid when taking this to a business meeting. Wish the front flap had a little bit of Velcro though.

I looked around for the brown/flame/brown version of this bag and only found it on Amazon, but the price was close to retail even though this color scheme had been discontinued (I think) and other color versions were cheaper. Regardless, this is a good bag that easily holds my 14.1" HP laptop and other items that I need. It's basically the same size as a backpack, but it can be used as a messenger bag. My only complaints are it's size (I may have been able to go smaller with the Timbuk2 Blogger) and it's a little heavy.
