Great bag, December 11, 2009
This review is from: Timbuk2 Kindle Messenger Bag (Fits 6" Display, 2nd Generation Kindle) Black/Black/Black (Electronics)
Works really well. Timbuk2 claim this is not a manbag or a handbag, but come on....it is. Having said that I'm a 6 foot chap, built like the proverbial brick wall, so this product helps me feel a little liberated. Why should the ladies in our lives get a bag to carry all their stuff? Don't men need a bag to carry all the junk, sorry, essential things in life? Where are we supposed to put the smartphone, kindle, camera, chocolate, empty beer cans (have you tried to find a bin in london these days?), credit cards and the "if found please return to..." card.
well done timbuk2, great product, but come on, market it as it should be :) It's a man bag!

Holds Kindle and so much more!, January 23, 2010
This review is from: Timbuk2 Kindle Messenger Bag (Fits 6" Display, 2nd Generation Kindle) Black/Black/Black (Electronics)
3 of 5 stars for the Timbuk2 Kindle Messenger Bag. Reading the description and looking at the product photos on Amazon sold me on his product as a good non-laptop bag. Yeah, I have a laptop and laptop bag for work use (and my Kindle fits nicely into my laptop bag), but, I was looking for a bag for weekend and travel use; combine my Kindle and camera stuff and water bottle and other little things. The Messenger bag has met my expectations. The bag is the perfect size. It has a couple of external pockets including one with for keys which is tied back to the bag. Inside is a big empty area, a small envelope for your Kindle and another envelope area with many small pockets for everything from phone to business cards. I specially like the large empty space to put big things. The interior has waterproof material. The shoulder strap is quickly and easily adjustable from shoulder to hand-bag length.
So, why three stars? There are several design problems to consider before you buy:
1) The envelope for your Kindle nicely holds the 6" Kindle. However, if you Kindle is housed in ANY of the various folders or zipper bags, it will NOT fit into this envelope. ONLY a bare 6" Kindle will fit!
2) The bag claims to be for Kindle or Netbooks, unless your netbook is exactly the same size as a Kindle it ain't going to fit. If your netbook is 1/2" thick, forget it. If you intend to carry a netbook, try the fit before you buy!
3) There are no handles on the top of the bag only the adustable shoulder strap. This makes grabbing the bag and carrying it difficult unless you use the strap. For example, my laptop bag has two small handles on either side of the top plus a shoulder strap.
4) While the materials are waterproof, the way the flap covers the body of the bag, there is a large top gap on either side of the flap. That means if you are out in the rain, rain goes right into the bag via the two gaps on either side of the flap.
So, yes, it is a good bag, not perfect, but good. Most likely I use it for things other than Kindle as my Kindle better fits (with the leather cover) into my laptop bag's outside pocket.

Great Value for Quality Product., October 21, 2010
This review is from: Timbuk2 Kindle Messenger Bag (Fits 6" Display, 2nd Generation Kindle) Black/Black/Black (Electronics)
Note that this bag is exactly the same and CHEAPER as Timbuk2 Freestyle Laptop Messenger Bag just that the padded sleeve in it is a smaller custom sleeve for kindle, nonetheless it's a perfect fit for my 6" Sony Reader with leather cover.
The fabric, finishing and parts used are of a high quality as what you would expect from Timbuk2 not to mention the godsend individual slots and pouches for neat freaks.
If i had to nit pick on this product it would be of the VERY stiff padding strap but it's nothing you can't fix over time with repeated use.
And one other thing .......even as Timbuk2 denies it....... IT'S A MAN-PURSE! Albeit being a rugged and good looking one.
