I got a great deal on this medium size messenger bag by Timbuk2, made right here in the USA. I thought this would be a wonderful replacement for a canvas and leather bag I've used for a briefcase for the past few years. However, I can see that this bag isn't going to work out and I may use it as a gift. Before I bought this bag I looked at descriptions trying to figure out how the inside of the bag was organized and I kept reading about organizers or dividers. I could never find any photos of the inside of the bag, not even at the manufacturer's site. Unfortunately, after I bought the bag and looked inside I saw that it is basically a big waterproof satchel. There is a panel attached to the inside that has some zippered pockets for very small items, like change, cell phones, keys, etc. But other than that there is nothing on the inside to keep items from flopping around, including file folders or even a laptop. I had read in reviews of other Timbuk2 messenger bags how people put their laptops inside. Well, that would be no problem with my bag. I could probably fit 3 or 4 laptops inside and at least they would keep each other from flopping around inside! So much for my foray into the world of "messenger bags".

Pros: Well made! This heavy duty nylon looks tough, I can imagine this lasting for years. Functionally would be great - if one IS a messenger. This would be great for carrying packages. Looks waterproof.

Cons: Inadequate descriptions of the all-important INSIDE of the bag. No pockets are accessible without lifting up the main flap and even then all the good pockets are inside.

First, this is not a review for this particular bag, but it is so similar, it could be.
I received three Timbuk2 messenger bags during my tenure at a web company in 1999/2000 (they were logo-wear items we used as promotional giveaways and staff awards). If I hadn't lost one of them in a move, we'd still have all three. I've used mine on multiple plane trips, as a "Keeper of The Crap" in my car, book bag, dog item carrier, laptop carrier, luggage....and OFTEN. My son has the other one and uses it on almost a daily basis for many of the same things. They both are still as structurally sound as the day I took them out of their protective plastic wrap from the shipping box they came in (but a little stained from use). They certainly don't look like we've been hauling them around for 10/11 years. Unless their quality standards have been lowered over the last several years, I'd think this may be the last messenger bag you'd have to buy for a very long time, making it worth the seemingly high cost.

This bag keeps getting better. I have an older Red/Black one that's traveled through multiple international cities, passport, tickets, cellphone and camera stashed for easy access. It's a great bag for travel. I've crammed several pair of jeans when regular luggage was overweight at check-in. It can do no wrong locally/domestically (on my bike) or internationally on my shoulder.

Good size and everything I need for the day fits, but it has not side supports so it just kinda flops everywhere and makes putting in and taking out items a hassle

It is fully functional. Good velcro closures incase I forget to clip it shut. Comfortable to carry.
Great colors. It is nice to have a messenger bag that isn't just standard black. Best of all, i can fit my 17.5HP Laptop, text books and other misc stuff in it. Also like the placement and size of pockets.

The strap is a comfortable length and the bag came with a strap pad.

The price was great too. I got it on a Black Friday sale and I think it was only around 50.00USD. Usually Timbuk2 bag run around 80-110.00USD

i bought this bag because i know Tb2's are quality and i always wanted one. it was on sale and i figured i snag it since i wanted a sling messenger bag. I have a macbook 15" carry a small moleskin, charger, dry erase markers and ipod stuff. i'll be honest and say i dont like this bag at all. the inside is HUGE and one big satchel as one reviewer described it. all this bag needs is a nice laptop pocket inside, its certainly big enough. the one pocket on the inside is stuffed and now is ginormous. i wouldnt go here if you have what i carry above. it certainly looks great tho. a pocket on the outside for train ticket, ipod headphones would be great. i have to unbuckle both clips, rip the velcro (loud when in meetings/conferences) and unzip pocket.

i can see this being great for someone who literally rides a messenger bike but i dont.

Great messenger bag. A lot of open room for just about anything I need during the day and even short overnight trips. Interior has a lot of organized little pockets. Love the limited edition racing color scheme.

This messenger bag is EXCELLENT! This particular model is large enough to accomodate several of my medical text books at a time. I have also used it as an overnight carry bag. The design is perfect for my needs. There are sufficient pockets to seperate items. Ultimately, I expect this bag to last a lifetime. It is very well constructed. The adjustable strap is wide and is long enough to meet the requirements of all heights. I am 6'4". Too often, messenger bag straps do not expand enough for my frame. With all this said, I really like the look and style of the bag.

yeah, i agree that the product made in usa is durable, especially i feel it when i carry this bag over my shoulder.

while carrying this, however, i feel i need more conveniences like my other bags with antishock pads and more reasonable organizer.

if i saw this at local store, i am not sure whether i bought it or not

even though it looks very cool and that's the biggest aspect i take care of.

in my opinion,

inside : 2.5 ~ 3 stars;

durability : 5 stars.
