A Great Source for Good Movies!,
By
This review is from: Time Out 1000 Films to Change Your Life (Time Out Guides) (Paperback)
This book is not only an excellent source for good movies, but also well-composed contents with numerous comments from movie directors/ actors/ actress.
You can also find the movies in 10 categories: Joy, Anger, Food for thought, Desire, Fear, Sadness, Exhilaration, Regret, Contempt and Wonder. I thought TIMEOUT was a sort of "fashion" paper but I was wrong on this one. It deserves to buy it, own it and keep it....to me.

Hate the way this book is laid out. It's not user friendly at all. It suggests it's going to be a very accessible list form of "1000 films to change your life" but it's really hard to read, there's no cohesion. The layout and the way it's broken us is really offputting. Bummed - bought it as a gift :(

One thousand films and 10 categories that's 100 approx films per category most of which end up in an index with nothing more than actor's names. Finding good films involves sifting through a lot of flour but it is dissappointing to come across so many weevils in this guide.Take the Fear category that spends 5/22 pages on Frankenstein, vampire and even jeckell and hyde. That's a lot of clinches and talking of formula cookie cutter idea'd movies how come no mention of teen zombie ones? Meanwhile missing must sees not highly commercial like Werner Herzog's "Nosferatu" where Klaus Kinski puts the most realistic and creepy imprint on cellulloid of a ghoul ever. Yet frankly, no, "Jason and the Argonauts" is not a horror movie.
There are distorted and indulgent views I mean don't bother to print that a pregnant cop retching in the snow comes under the Desire category (morning sickness in "Fargo" or comment that "Taxidriver" is disquieting. It would.of been if he'd shot the president but it's actually more deeper loopy and righteous than that. Then how can this guide miss "what ever happened to baby Jane" in the contempt category. Chapters dwelling on films I don't know of and miistrust because they miss the obvious elsewhere and this dwelling takes up too much room so they stash most in the index unreviewed.

Great book but why the nudity!!!!,
This review is from: Time Out 1000 Films to Change Your Life (Time Out Guides) (Paperback)
The book looks awesome but when I was flipping through it there was a fully nude women!!! What's up with that? If that needs to be in there (which it doesn't) then at least warn me and put in on the page or something. Completely vulgar and wrong. I will check twice to make sure I'm not being scammed into vulgarity and immorality.

Change your life?,
This review is from: Time Out 1000 Films to Change Your Life (Time Out Guides) (Paperback)
It's a great book to pick and read a chapter or two. You may not agree with all the selections (I didn't), but that's part of what makes it fun and interesting reading

I ordered this as a gift for my son who is a movie buff. It arrived in fine condition and is just what the description said it would be. Also it came well within the time stated.
