Open Your Eyes...and ears., June 9, 2003
This review is from: Time & Again: The Anthology Part II (Audio CD)
Thank goodness for Larry Carlton. I was looking for his collaboration with TOTO's Steve Lukather, and pretty much right in front of it was this CD. Up to that point I had been familiar with Bobby Caldwell only as a songwriter (and a great one at that), so was surprised to learn of his extensive recorded output. Opening with "What You Won't Do For Love" (which, I swear I had never heard before) the disc is a delight from start to finish, and seems to sound even better each time you listen to it. Amongst my favourite cuts are "Open Your Eyes", "In The Name Of Love", "Janet", "Where Is Love" and "Rain". I was also most surprised to find that his version of "Heart Of Mine" - probably the first of his songs that I had known - managed to surpass the hit version by Boz Scaggs in quality. "Next Time I Fall" is also superior (IMHO) to the duet version by Peter Cetera and Amy Grant, which I always thought was brilliant as it was. A great artist, and one this collection has made me very interested in investigating much more thoroughly.

Very Good Collection, September 12, 2001
This review is from: Time & Again: The Anthology Part II (Audio CD)
I knew Caldwell's music since I was very young. Back then I used to listened to You Promised Me. I followed all his albums until recently his anthology was released. This 2nd part Anthology IMHO has better selection than the 1st one. Simply because I just don't like the songs. But in this 2nd volume most of my fav are here! It's nice to hear again What You Won't Do For Love. This time in original version. Then 6 songs from "Heart of Mine". Wow! Overall it's a really good selection of his greatest hits. I really missed songs like Sherry, Carry On,You Promised Me and Puerto Rico (from OMPS Salsa) which were not included on both Anthologies. Those 4 are among my all-time fav.

Amazing Music, September 4, 2004
This review is from: Time & Again: The Anthology Part II (Audio CD)
This is some of the most relaxing music I have ever heard. I was introduced to Caldwell's music after seeing his name as the songwriter to the Peter Cetera and Amy Grant duet "Next Time I Fall". His songs are very melodic and powerful. His music definitely reminds me of Peter Cetera's music and 80s Chicago. There is not one filler song on this cd. It is the best smooth jazz cd I have ever heard. All of the songs have lots of layered keyboards and guitars that make the songs just flow. Essential for smooth jazz and soft rock fans.
