This book was much better then expected! I am not a real big sci-fi reader, or time travel. I do however, love Nora Robert, and JD ROBB. This book actually reminds me more of the In Death series as far as the format then it does Nora's usual romance.

3.0 out of 5 stars Time Travel Is A Reality in Two Romantic Love Stories
I am a fan of Nora Roberts' mainstream fiction, but I had never read one of her romance books. A friend insisted I read this since she considered it not only a great romance but also because of the interesting aspect of time travel. After reading all 505 pages, some highly interesting and some not so interesting, I think I will stick with her mainstream work.

This book was much better then expected! I am not a real big sci-fi reader, or time travel. I do however, love Nora Robert, and JD ROBB. This book actually reminds me more of the In Death series as far as the format then it does Nora's usual romance.

Caleb in some strange way ends up traveling from the future to our time. The lovely, self sufficient Libby helps him thinking he's a plane wreck victim. The way Caleb reacts to everyday items in this century is funny. I found myself laughing through this story and the ending is great!

Jacob travels through time in search of his brother., Caleb and to bring him home. While Jacob is waiting for his brother to return from a trip with Libby, he slowly begins to fall in love with Libby's sister. Sunny. The ending of this story is better then the first and it will surprise you!

These two story's are reprints combined to one great book. Even if you are not a big time travel reader, if you like Nora Roberts you will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good time travel, August 28, 2001
This review is from: Time And Again (Mass Market Paperback)
I love Nora Roberts books. She always makes a good story. But, I must admit that I was a bit leery about how she would work in the time travel bit. I haven't read much time travel romance, so I was leery of that to begin with. But, like most of Nora's books, I loved it. The Hornblower men were great heros. It was very funny to see how they reacted to what Libby and Sunny considered modern times, in fact, some parts of it were downright hilarious. And even though it is one of her original books for Harlequin, it definitely was good. I would recommend this book for any Nora fan or any one who is a fan of romance time travel.

Now, don't get me wrong. The book was enjoyable. If you can accept the idea of time travel and believe that two men from the 23rd century find their way to 1990's Oregon, you are in for a treat. The humor of their situation is played beautifully. Their inability to manipulate a stove, recognize a radio, or understand current phrases is comical. The sexual tension is great with many, many pages devoted to sexual attraction and union, the cutting edge of erotic writing that has made Nora Roberts beloved by millions.

The book appears to be a compilation of two previous works. In the first, "Time Was," Caleb Hornblower is sucked into a black hole and finds himself at a mountain cabin in Oregon, the residence of one Liberty (Libby) Stone. The attraction is immediate, the sex passionate, and the ending extremely romantic. In the second book,"Times Change," Caleb's brother Jacob comes to fetch him home. Since Caleb and Libby are on vacation, the only person he finds at the cabin is Libby's sister Sunbeam (Sunny) who is spending some time alone and deciding what to do with the rest of her life. Jacob and Sunny have a feisty yet passionate affair that will probably come to an end when he leaves to return to the 23rd century. Or will it? Can two smart and savvy women find love with men who will be born long after the women will die? Can flying in and out of black holes and going from century to century really be possible? Can the reader accept any of this and find the story satisfying? To a great extent, yes. My only complaint is that there is much repetition and the story goes on about 200 pages too long. Nora has been blessed with better editing and tighter writing in her later books. However, this one is definitely worth reading if you are a fan of her romances.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable Read- I'm glad I took the chance., September 10, 2001

This review is from: Time And Again (Mass Market Paperback)
I have to admit, I had several concerns when I picked up this book. First, I am not into Science Fiction and time travel usually fits into this catagory. Second, as a general rule, although I like Nora Roberts books I do not like JD Robb books (one and the same author!) and I was afraid this would be more of a JD Robb type book. However, I'm a HUGE Nora Roberts fan and decided to give it a whirl.

What a wonderful surprise.

In the first story:
Caleb in some strange way ends up traveling from the future to our time. The lovely, independent Libbie helps him thinking he's a plane wreck victim. The way Caleb reacts to common items in our century is funny. I found myself laughing several times. I particularly liked the ending.

In the second story:
Jacob travels through time on purpose in search of his brother. While Jacob is waiting for his brother (Caleb) to return from a trip with Libbie, he slowly begins to fall in love with fiesty Sunny. I liked the ending of this story even more than the first story.

I appreciated the true to life feelings that Nora is able to depict in her writing. I also appreciated the fresh look at our century.

4.0 out of 5 stars Had some concerns, but great just the same!, September 4, 2001
This review is from: Time And Again (Mass Market Paperback)
I was a little hesitant to read this latest re-issue of Nora Roberts. I am a big fan of her romance and mystery mix, as well as her more strictly romances. But I wasn't sure how I would like the time travel duo. But, I have to say, Nora pulled it off, weaving two stories of love with a little time travel. I have read books that I thought to be better by her, but given my doubts before reading this title, she did an excellent job.

So what happens to Caleb, stranded in the 20th century, and Libby in "Time Was"? Or Jacob, Caleb's brother who comes to rescue him, and Sunny in "Times Change"? The only way to find out is to take the time to read it. In my humble opinion, it is well worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Two Timeless Love Stories....., November 17, 2001

If you're a fan of sci-fi, time-travel, romance, and Nora Roberts...well honey, have I got a book for you! "Time and Again" brilliantly combines all of the above elements and molds them into the perfect romance novel. The two stories involve two brothers from the future and two sisters from the past who fall in love. I myself am not a huge fan of sci-fi and was reluctant at first to buy the novel. I picked the book up, read the back and sit it down at least 20 times over the course of a month before I decided that I would take the plunge and see if it interested me. I can proudly say that it did just that. It took only a day and a half for me to finish the book, I just couldn't put it down! Nora keeps the reader interested by weaving the future and the past together all the while adding that special brand of romance she is so famous for. Take a peak below at a small description of each story and then decide for yourself if "Time and Again" is for you. I betcha it is!

"Time Was"....
Caleb Hornblower, while on a supply run to Mars, gets sucked into a black hole and is thrust from the 23rd century to the 21st landing in the Klamuth Mountains in Oregon. Liberty "Libby" Stone, seeing what appears to be a plane fall into the mountains, goes in search of survivors. There she stumbles across Caleb, who she takes back to her cabin until she can get help. Libby has never met anyone as curious as Caleb, who seems interested in the most simplest devices. Soon attraction between the two starts to build and Caleb is forced to choose between going home and staying in the past with the woman he loves.

"Times Change"
Jacob Hornblower, Astrophysicist, has just found a way to travel back to the 21st century and bring his brother Caleb home. Jacob travels back in time and ends up in the same spot Caleb did almost two years earlier. At Caleb and Libby's cabin, Jacob meets Libby's spitfire sister Sunbeam "Sunny" Stone. Thinking at first that Jacob is a lunatic, Sunny throws him out of the house. But with an impending snowstorm ahead Sunny decides to let him stay until the storm subsides and his brother and Libby return from a short vacation. When the power is suddenly cut off, Sunny and Jacob must put their clashing personalities aside and stay warm. That's when things really start to heat up for these two. Knowing that his purpose is to retrieve his brother and return to the future, Jacob struggles to reveal the truth to Sunny. Will leaving her and returning home meaning leaving the one woman he truly loved behind forever?

Highly recommended Nora Roberts novel!!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Ho hum, August 11, 2002

I liked the idea of the traveling time, the men being confused and curious was a good concept. My problem is that fact that most of the book they spent having sex. I mean, really, in this day and age do us women jump into a sex relationship within a day or two of meeting a strange man?? I read a book for it's adventure and plot and usually enjoy Nora Roberts' books, but this one took my forever to finish because of page after page of sex and orgasms just didn't ring true. It was boring, I would have enjoyed it more had there been more substance.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun read, October 11, 2001
By
This review is from: Time And Again (Mass Market Paperback)
I can't believe how many negative reviews there are about this book! I have nothing but good things to say about it.
I am a big Nora Roberts fan, but I still always approach each book objectively, and the bottom line is, this book was highly enjoyable.
Both stories are romantic and quite funny at times. I found myself laughing out loud at Caleb and Jacob's reactions to the twentieth century.
I certainly wouldn't call this novel one of Nora's very best, but it was original and it was lots of fun to read. I did not get bored by it, nor did I find the love scenes too long.
So don't listen to all these critical people, just sit back, relax, and join Libby & Caleb and Sunny & Jacob on their incredible journey through time to find true love.

1.0 out of 5 stars Must have had a time deadline!, September 14, 2001

I enjoy Nora Roberts' books very much. I was totally disappointed in this one. She took what should have been a l0 page plot and tried to develop a novel. I felt as if someone were standing over her saying "get a book out at any cost--forget creativity and variety." Then, to add insult to injury, she starts a second portion of the book having the protagonist's brother go through the exact same plot, barely varying even the dialogue. The only interesting thing that happened was the initial alien landing and the parents' visit. We knew that the aliens would fall in love with the sisters--but that part of the plot was developed with constant, boring repetition. I hope her next book is more in line with her previous books. Her time travel books and usually very enjoyable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, February 18, 2002

This review is from: Time And Again (Mass Market Paperback)
I heard others say this book wasn't good, but they are wrong! It discusses the possibility of time travel which seems foreign to us, but what is wrong with a little non-reality every once in a while! Nora Roberts did an excellent job in making you wonder about time travel while adding lots of romance, as she is known to do! It was a great change from the realistic love stories of the day!
