My Review for In the Time of the Butterflies, November 11, 2009
This review is from: In the Time of the Butterflies [Unabridged] (Audio Cassette)
In the Time of the Butterflies is a historical fiction book, based on the lives of four great women trying to change history. Julia Alvarez tells her interpretation of the famous Dominican butterflies(Las Mariposas).Patricia, Minerva,Dede and Maria Teresa Mirabal grew up in a small town. As they grew up they became tired of the way Trujillo, the Dominican Dictator running the country handled things. So they Started a Revolution that made history across the country.**Spoil Alert** The book is told in all their voices but mainly in Dede's view. Dede was the only one left alive out of the four women. All in all i loved reading the book, it had me addicted at a point. Addicted so bad i had to stop myself from reading so i wouldn't go in temptation and skip some pages and read ahead!! I loved the descriptions and Diary entries the most. Maria Theresa was by far my favorite. I recommend this book to anyone who likes historical fiction.
