Time Castaways,

Pretty good. Almost a masterpiece when compared to PROPHECY / Deathlands. Action is good. You can follow the storyline well.

I've been a fan of the Deathlands series for many years and this book doesn't disappoint. Ryan and gang face many challenges in the story and come out like heroes leaving their enemies ville in destruction. They bring down a hillside, failed negotiations with a baron for a boat to continue their voyage involving dental crowns....for a short time made a new trusted ally with vital information which helped in Ryan's decisions to acquire a boat and escape. These are just a few of many scenerios you will experience in this book.

After not being able to even finish another deathlands book i guess the publishers dont care about fans. After just finished the latest deathlands book blood harvest, i couldnt help but review what a difference in writing styles.
If you want to read a back to excellence, skip these last three books and just buy the March issue of this series. I was sbeginning to stop reading this series like I did outlanders for the same lackluster writing.

I have all of the older books up until the point where Lawrence James (James Axler) died in February of 2000. He had been Ill for a number of years but the publishers still consulted with him about the plotlines on some level. Even after his death there was an effort on the part of some of the ghost writers to have something of a continuing storyline. Eventually around the time of the entry "Salvation Road" the Gold Eagle must have just decided that if they fed their audience crap they would eat it if they were hungry. So the series will lurch on for another decade or so with the plot of each installment being one of fight the mutant monster for 15 pages and then spend the rest of the time overcoming the local warlord. Remember don't focus on plot focus instead focus on catchphrases have the characters use Fireblast, Dark Night and Hot Pipe alot even when the situation doesn't call for it. The extra star is for all of the good times I had back when the series was better.
