4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful jazz omelette sans fromage
Skip the cheese, pleez: this album is a creative, textured breakfast. I'm amazed at how disregarded Marcus Roberts is: the guy's a real talent: he's not just another blind piano player! I've heard him called "unoriginal" and "scared to depart from the confines of classic jazz." Ridiculous! Yes, the sound here won't upset fans of 1950s-1960s...

3.0 out of 5 stars Time and Circumstance
Simply beautiful music from a truly gifted pianist. Reflecting Mirrors and the title track are my stand-outs, but the whole disc is just wonderful. At times it makes you wanna cut a rug and then it turns to something mellow and dreamy. That bass and drum just don't quit.

Yes, this soul flows in that vein. That's a criticism? Damn, Stan, let the cat play. This album is a marvelous concoction and I love it. Tune out the critics and tune in to Marcus.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding performance, July 29, 2006
This review is from: Time & Circumstance (Audio CD)
When I saw this pianist on TV for the first time, I couldn't imagine the quality of his art in touching keyboards and piano. This album just confirmed me in bet on new artists or at least unknown musicians, who express their natural skill in play music, play jazz, in an extraordinay way.

After working with Wynton Marsalis, Marcus Roberts started his remarkable recording career. In this album, his electrifying group interplay is so remarkable. This album's been underrated, I think.
