Product Description

This third Time Crisis game designed for PlayStation 2 sets the light-gun shooter action in a busy commercial district in the suburbs of London. A group of terrorists has taken over a building, but little else is known of their true purpose, as the player's crack shot hero arrives at the scene with orders to liberate the market square and resolve the situation by any means necessary. Backgrounds and environments designed to be more detailed and interactive in this version of Time Crisis, and players will be able to break windows, blast through doors, perforate metal walls, and even shoot up the books, CDs, clothing, and other merchandise on various store shelves. PS2 gamers with two of Namco's Guncon 2 light gun accessories can use them both at once in this game, to serve up some action hero-styled double-fisted justice.

3.0 out of 5 stars Time Crisis: Crisis Zone October 23, 2004
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Great shooter game like it's predecessors Time Crisis 2 & 3. You start of with a machinegun instead of a handgun, (trust me you'll need it). One major drawback however is that it's only a one player game and you cannot use two guns when playing as one player. The instuctions say you can use two GUNCON 2 controllers for portions of the game, however after playing two levels of the game, I have not found a way to activate it. You might have to earn the ability to use two guns. I am very ticked-off about this. Maybe after playing the game more I'll figure it out. I've only played the game for 2 1/2 hours before writing this review. Thought I would warn potential buyers before they purchase it. Still, it's a Kick-B*tt game, but would be much better if you could use 2 guns.

3.0 out of 5 stars Stingray December 27, 2004
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Fast paced game with great graphics however, Unlike Time Crises 2 and 3 its somewhat mindless in the sense you point the machine gun in the direction of the bad guys and just shoot.. This game has one gun, at least in the early levels you can use the machine gun only. The bad guys in this game are hard to kill meaning you have to shoot them multiple times to kill them. In Time Crisis 3 some of the bad guys have to be shot up to 5 and 6 times however in this game all but one of the characters require nearly a full clip resulting in multiple reloads. I get the sense I am playing the same screen over and over with the only real change being the back drops. I hope it gets better, I have played through the second level up an to this point. Crisis Missions are near impossible but at least a little different. For more pin point shooting that requires a little skill rather then luck, I would say stick with Time Crisis 2 and 3.

5.0 out of 5 stars This game is fantastic! October 21, 2013
Verified Purchase
Crisis Zone is pretty much Time Crisis on adrenaline. It takes the two defining mechanics of the series, ducking & shooting, & injects them with a hearty dose. Now, instead of a six shooter pistol you have a fully automatic machinegun & instead of ducking behind a nearby object you are mobile with an invincible riot shield. This means the playfield often moves during the action as opposed to the more static angles of previous entries. It also throws more heavily armored enemies your way you'll have to wittle down with a spray of fire. These changes combined with a pulse pounding soundtrack add up to an incredible gameplay experience that's really like no other, even when compared to top notch light gun shooters such as House Of The Dead. If you are a fan of Razing Storm (& I am) then in playing this you can really see where it gets it's pedigree.

I used to spend a ton of quarters in the arcades playing this bad boy. I would even travel pretty far & wide to do so at times, so it's really great to finally have it at home. This version is visually enhanced over the arcade original & also comes with an extra new campaign that continues the story some months later.

However, in the year 2013 it is difficult to play the Time Crisis games how they were intended. First, you'll need a CRT television to use Namco's GunCon peripherals with the game. No other TV or monitor is going to work, so don't even try. Second, to get decent visuals out of a CRT & PS2 you'll need to pick a boobtube that has component inputs & get a component cable for the PS2. I recommend a Sony Trinitron or RCA TruFlat no less than 27". These TVs are upwards of 200lbs so shipping is out of the question unless you're filthy rich. Check your local pawn shops & ask your friends if they have one in storage.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Game But VERY Short April 19, 2014
I'd always been interested in the Time Crisis series since I saw them in the arcade. I never picked one up since I didn't have a light gun for the PS2. Recently I found a copy of this one for a little over a buck so I figured I'd give it a try with the controller. I LOVED it and am really happy with the purchase. If you remember the old T2: The Arcade Game for Sega Genesis, you get the basics of this game. It plays just fine with the usual controller.

The basic story, which doesn't matter at all, is some terrorists with way too much logistical support, have taken over some tech plaza and your team has to save it. You can pick any of the first three areas you'll do first, but you have to beat all three before you get to the 4th and final level. You have to beat them without running out of continues too. Just a tip, but the longer you play and the more you beat, the more continues it seems to give you, so you may want to try beating each area even if you can't beat them all yet.

Anyway, after you destroy the three zones, you end up in a short boss fight level that's still reasonably difficult if you're out of lives. The arcade apparently ends here, but the PS2 one has more to come. You pick up 6 months later and a new boss has taken over. He kidnaps your commander's daughter and you have to go in and get her back. You can pick to start this campaign without playing through the first again, but all three levels must be played through without running out of continues. They are also quite a bit tougher, in my opinion.

So the problem, well all of this is short. It will likely take you several hours to build up enough continues to beat the game easily enough, but the levels themselves are short.
