5.0 out of 5 stars This autor writs good clean romances. A good time travel, December 12, 1999
This review is from: Time to Dream (Time Passages) (Paperback)
In modern day Hanibal, Missouri, Shelby Miller hopes to save the twin nineteenth century homes of Winterhill and Summervale from a developer. However, sadly the orphaned Shelby is just a caretaker with no one to back her, not even a family. Shelby wonders about the legend of the crazy woman Agatha Logan who mysteriously deserted her spouse and two kids to live alone in Summervale.

When Shelby visits the decaying building, something occurs and she lands in the body of Agatha in 1871 Hanibal. Once she decides this is not a dream, Shelby believes her purpose is to save the marriage of Agatha and her spouse Zacharias. Shelby tries to bring about a reconciliation, but, his fear for the safety of his children and his guilt for siring them with his mistress Patricia Starling will not allow for a reconciliation. Still, she tries to win him back for Agatha, not yet aware that she loves Zacharias for herself.

A TIME TO DREAM is an entertaining time travel romance that uses a pre-famous Samuel Clemens as a time anchor. The story line is filled with passion and rage that constantly boil to the surface. The characters are intriguing as their motives support their actions. Sub-genre readers who enjoy a heated soap-like tale will relish Sherry Lewis, latest book and desire a sequel starring Agatha in the modern world.

5.0 out of 5 stars TIME HEALS ALL WOUNDS..., October 23, 2004

This review is from: Time to Dream (Time Passages) (Paperback)
This is a wonderfully entertaining book that will appeal to those who enjoy time travel romance, especially those who are fans of authors Diana Gabaldon and Terri Brisbin. The author is a gifted storyteller, as it is a well-written, well-plotted book, with a cogent storyline and engaging characters.

The book revolves around Shelby, a young, rootless woman, who is the caretaker for Winterhill, a historic house in Hannibal, Missouri, 1999. It has a twin, Summervale, that mirrors it in every way. Winterville was built by a Zacharias Logan more than a century ago after his wife, Agatha, cast him and their twin sons from Summervale. Agatha went on to live a totally reclusive life at Summervale, never seeing her husband or sons until the day that she died.

When the current owner of Winterville decides to sell the house, rather than restore it, Shelby goes to Summervale, now a dilapidated wreck of a house, to see if she can find any information about its mysterious past. Shelby hopes to use such information in order to generate public interest in both houses, so as to forestall their now seemingly inevitable destruction in the name of progress and development. While rooting around in Summervale, however, Shelby finds herself mysteriously transported to 1871 and in the body of Agatha Logan.

While in the past, Shelby seeks to put to right what once went wrong in the Logan household in an effort to ensure the preservation of Winterhill and Summervale in the future. She discovers the secrets that caused such a rift between the handsome Zacharias and the headstrong Agatha. What she did not count on is the undeniable attraction that Zacharias holds for her. Zacharias, at a loss to explain the seemingly inexplicable, though welcome, change in his wife's attitude towards him, finds himself more strongly drawn to Agatha than ever before.

What happens to Shelby, Zacharias, and Agatha will keep the reader turning the pages of this thoroughly enjoyable novel. Those who enjoy well-written time travel romance, as well as romantic historical fiction, will be quite entertained by this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartwarming Romance, September 10, 2001

This review is from: Time to Dream (Time Passages) (Paperback)
This story is one of depth. If you like "fluffy" stories without any words of wisdom within it's pages, or romances with gratuitous sex, this one isn't for you.

I found my attention captured within the first few pages. Sherry Lewis piques the interest of her reader immediately with a dilemma-how the main character Shelby will manage to save two "twin" houses, as well as her job as caretaker of one of them.

Determined to locate the journals of Agatha, the "crazy" woman who lived in one of the homes, Shelby pokes around the dilapidated mansion. While there, she finds herself overwhelmed with the heat, and thought her imagination was running overtime when she peers into the cracked mirror above an old dressing table and spies the refelction of another woman! This encounter plunges her back in time to 1871 when the houses were in their original splendor, and transforms her into Agatha herself!

Progressing through the story, Shelby discovers the true nature of Agatha's voluntary isolation and learns of treachery committed by her husband. Determined to bring Agatha and her husband reconcillation with the hope of changing the fate of the houses, Shelby shows the reader what true love means.

A Time To Dream is romance with a message; when life hands you lemons, it really is up to you to DECIDE to make lemonade.

I definitely plan to read more by Sherry Lewis!
