Hooky, strong album by Edison Glass.,

This review is from: Time Is Fiction (Audio CD)
This is definitely Edison Glass. The album opens to the kind of layered, guitar-laden, screaming artistry that one expects from EG. Even the songs that struck me as a bit odd during the first listening grew on me pretty quickly. "The End of You" is stuck in my head even as I type this, at least a week after I got the album.
If you tend to discount bands with the word "Christian" in the genre, you still should not skip EG. Bands like Edison Glass, Reliant K, MXPX, and FlatFoot56 are far too good to overlook. These aren't crossover wanna-be bands, they're serious rockers who just happen to sing about things they personally believe and feel (as any serious artist should). These guys may believe things you don't, but listen to the authenticity and great chops they bring to the table. Other than the song "children in the streets", I felt this was a top-knotch album. While the message of "children" is still valid and good, I felt that it was the low spot of the album in terms of creativity, thoughtful lyrics, musicality, and originality. I wouldn't blame someone for leaving this one song out of the "random shuffle" playlist. I was totally captivated by "Let Go", "The End of You", "Cold Condition", "See Me Through", and even the quirky "Our Bodies Sing". "Time is Fiction" is a moody, even eerie, bit that closes the album. I have this album in heavy rotation. If you have never heard EG before, you should think of a mix between Rush, Led Zepplin, U2, and The Kinks. Sometimes there is a little hint of The Police, too. Those artists are my favorite EG playlist companions, along with MXPX and Delirious?. This is definitely a "Buy".

Edison Glass' follow up second full length "Time is Fiction" is a really good album. If you listened to their first album, their second blows it out of proportion.
If you are into melodic guitar playing and harmonic vocals and just awesome rock, listen to these guys! Many of the songs sound different and do not stick to one genre. I cannot stop listening to this album, I am never sick of it. If you are into Jimmy Eat World, The Receiving End of Sirens, Switchfoot, and etc., then you should check them out. They are good! Go pick up the album now!

What can I say about Edison Glass? They need to drop the christian label and aim for something a bit bigger...like Equal Vision Records. The band is solid, the music is solid, the promotion is lackluster. Edison Glass is just one release away from making it big. "Time is Fiction" is a great second step in their discography and deserves your attention. For fans of Circa Survive, check out this group. While they aren't key on with Circa's amazing sound and songwriting abilities, you will still enjoy the music.

I love this CD. I listened to it two times in a row. I drive about 70 miles to work early in the morning, and I didn't get sleepy at all listening to it (which I normally do). These guys are seriously talented and very thoughtful about life, love, and faith. If you like music that shows true musicianship but also rocks hard, you will love this CD also. Some of my favorite songs are: Let Go (very unique and whimsical), Cold Condition, End of You, See Me Through, Our Bodies Sing, Time is Fiction. But I enjoyed all the songs. Fans of Bloc Party and Muse will find this band to show a unique blending of their sounds, but with their own signature feel. This CD is great for Christians who want to feed their souls, but also want to find their musical palate enriched at the same time. In my humble opinion, Edison Glass breaks the pigeonhole of what contemporary Christian music has been for far too long. I think that these guys will be huge. I know I will certainly buy every new CD they make in the future.

Time Is Fiction is a great album, A must have! A ballance between the rythm of rock,Emo,and soft melody with sophisticated beats. I've followed Edison Glass since the beggining, with no letdown. Great christian group! Great band by all standards! Hope you get your copy too!!A Burn or a Shiver

Edison Glass has a highly distinct style that they seem to be more comfortable with in this album. Lyrically, the CD is out of this world. The vocals are pure and highlight this bands mix of unique singing and guitars. If you are looking for a different sound, without straying into completely weird music, check this album out. Great lyrics, great vocals and great sound all around. This CD is great on the ears and excellent for the soul.

Super dissapointed. I loved their first album, but wish I had never bought this one. The best song on here is, well, the cover is cool. I still have faith, but this one is to bland. Next album will be better for sure.

Their second CD, Time is Fiction rocks more than the first, but still has all of the hooks and melodies that A Burn or a Shiver had. Highly recommended for fans of Sanctus Real, Switchfoot, etc.
