Sub-Humans,
By Mike Callahan (Braintree, MA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Time Flies/Rats (Audio CD)
This is a great CD. The Subhumans are an extremely talented punk band. Their view-points are well expressed and they speak of real problems in the world. Their music isn't just about the problems with the system, but also how people are ignorant towards one another and to everything else. These guys are definetely worth listening to.

Greatest of the Greats,

I don't care who you are, but if you like music with an incredible message that satirizes society and really makes you think; then you want to buy this cd and drink up Dick's every word. The Subhumans are an amazing band that really puches you in the gut with every word and chord. Plus, it is great to freak out your Jappy cousin or your over zealous parents. You might also want to pick up The Day the Country Died also, but Time Flies/Rats is my favourite cd 'cos it is a bit heavier. Cheers mates!!

Set me straight,
By Zelie Nic (Pittsburgh) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Time Flies/Rats (Audio CD)
Normally, I think it's a bad idea for a band to get back together, especially after a decade's gone by. But, I have to say, I was thrilled when the Subhumans got back together. I saw them on that first tour in Pittsburgh... great show. Rats/ Time Flies was the first album I had... I've had it close to twenty years now, and it's one of the few English punk bands that still sounds fresh to me.
I still remember a time when songs like "No" made me nervous. "Nobody Says Anything on Buses" and "When the Bomb Drops" ESPECIALLY, "When the.." made the Subhumans the be-all-end-all for me back in the day. THat blend of punk, ska, and reverby surf... This album had such a huge impact on me that I remember filling out my first job (I was fourteen, and needed a note from school to get a job at the grocers) and filled out my application all in the cryptic writing style familiar to all Subhumans releases.

Great cd. Totally worth your money.,
This review is from: Time Flies/Rats (Audio CD)
AS i said about 'the day the country died', this music has a deep characteristic to it. It has a great deal of political satire and greatly crafted lyrics. songs like "work-rest-play-die" are so deep and meaningful, unlike (and don't get me wrong, i love other punk too) a lot of other punk stuff: "You can go blue in the face talking about the human race
How they got to outer space but it never stopped the wars And how the whole of this humanity is based on greed and vanity The ones who make decisions are the ones who make the laws" just one example of the exelent craftmanship of their lyrics. BUY THIS CD.

okay. this is another great cd from an amazing band. if your a subhumans fan you would know this. if your one of those people that listen to music for the way it sounds instead of the message, don't waste your time buying this. the sound is great, but you have to be able to respond to their message. basically, if your an intelligent, open minded person who likes bands like crass and dirt, buy this. it's great.

A classic!,
By Gogol (England) - See all my reviews

Of all the anarco punk bands from the UK Subhumans stood out and one of the main reasons was the quality of the music (unlike Crass for example who seemed to stand out for their lack of it!) This album is no exception.
Its realy great to have a political message that you can actually listen to without it becoming nothing more than a rant. Dead Kennedys had that one worked out MDC did not. Subhumans were another band who had worked it out. Mid paced 80s punk with even the odd speedy hardcore track (I dont wanna die) to satisfy the hardcore listener. Lyrics are exellent covering not only political issues but social and personal issues, in another words, lyrics that effect the average person in the street. Definatly worth buying and listening to...agan...and again....and again... When the people of the country have forgotten how to disagree.......... (By the way, if you like this you may want to check out ska-punk band Citizen Fish)

This is a great CD,
By Kitt Fisher (Caracas, Venezuea) - See all my reviews

When my sister bought this cd for me i wasn't expecting too much but i listened to it and really liked it. The more I listen to this cd the more I like it. The best part is that each song is different. It isnt like with some cd's where each song starts the same and you dont notice the difference util youve listened to it ten times. This CD brings something new with each song. Whether your listening to susan or i dont wanna die your guaranteed to like this cd.

awesome album. I got kicked out of school for wearing the RATS shirt, they said it was innapropriate. I dont know whats with them. I see stupid mainstream kids wearing limp bizkit and Korn shirts everyday. They should get kicked out of school just for listening to them. If you wanna get kicked out of school like me go buy the t shirt, or hit some teachers, or some kids you dont like

This album is political like the rest of them, this one describes the kind of people working for state and not us.
