Book Description

August 1977 A star book
Rocking On The Edge Of Time.

Deep at the Earth's Centre lay the Death Generator. Buried there from time immemorial by a long-dead race of aliens, it had at last been triggered into action . . .
For among the ruins of London, surrounded by the survivors of the recent holocaust, Hawkwind rock, their music catalysing the attacking Death Ray—a lethal concoction of high energy that insinuates it's way into the mind, tormenting every sense with demonic psychic visions. With the breakdown of the barriers between nightmare and reality, Hawkwind find themselves re-enacting the stages of a war that took place thousands of years before, in which they take the role of the Hawklords—the only potential saviours of the human race otherwise doomed to extermination in an apocalyptic battle between the forces of good and evil . . .

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth reading if you have an interest in the band Hawkwind., August 1, 1998
By A Customer
This book, written by a proven SF/Fantasy author, is not his best work, but has a definite interest for the reader who has knowledge of the band Hawkwind and would like to see its members immortalized in fiction. The plot moves along slowly, and it has not aged well. The hippy vs straight concept is well outdated, but it is a amusing blast from the past for the readers of more current styles of SF.

2.0 out of 5 stars Only for Hawkwind Fans, March 25, 2001
By
This review is from: Time of the Hawklords (Paperback)
The Time of The Hawklords is but a collection of space dreaming sequences based upon the ideas of the rock group Hawkwind, with the seed of Michael Moorcock on some of its compositions and in the mood of the group as well, that is why you cannot speak about the book without referring to the music. The book itself is an exercise of baroque descrptions and actions depicting the band members as psychedelic characters travelling through the Universe in a decadent space-hulk, armed with musical weapons. The visual imaginery of the story relates it to similar parallel universes as those of the 2000 A.D. or Warhammer 40K wargaming series.
