Like many romances, this story was somewhat predictable, yet it kept my interest. Ms. Cameron made some atypical choices. She introduced the subject of PTSD into her story, set in an Amish community with little understanding of the disorder. The main female characters were strong and opinionated, rather than the docile women that seem to be staples of the Amish romance genre. I had not read the first of this series, but found that previous knowledge of the characters or community was not necessary in order to enjoy this well crafted story.

I visited Amish communities in Pennsylvania many years ago. I learned much about the land, farms and culture. What I did not learn while there was of their total commitment to faith, family and friends. This story shares so much about the true heartbeat of the communities and the respect they deserve for their personal commitments to their faith and families.
