About the Author

Phillis Gershator has written many picture books for children. Her mother, Mim Green, inspired this collaboration, and the two have also cowritten Who's Awake in Springtime? (Henry Holt), which Booklist called “A playful and inviting bedtime tale.”

 

Phillis worked as a children's librarian for the Brooklyn Public Library and now lives with her husband and frequent coauthor, David, in the U.S. Virgin Islands. To learn more about Phillis and Mim, see phillisgershator.com.

 

David Walker is the illustrator of numerous children's books, including Before You Were Mine (Putnam), Crocodaddy (Sterling), and Bears on Chairs (Candlewick).  He can be found painting in his studio in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I for sure loved this book.
There were two main reasons...
One, I am a big believer in hugs... they can make the worst day better!
Two, I loved that it was gender neutral! You read the book the way you see it... as a mother to a little boy, that was how I read it... but you could read it as a daddy to his daughter! Great addition to all libraries :)

This is such a sweet book! I love the pictures, the little bunnies are so huggable! This is a perfect book to snuggle and read with a little one before bed.
