Editorial Reviews

Review

"Gershator (Moo, Moo, Brown Cow, Have You Any Milk, 2011), in collaboration with her mother, offers this sweet, brief rhyming tale celebrating hugs at any hour of the day.

Two bunnies, one small and orange and the other bigger and gray, wake up at 8:00 to begin a day chock-full of activities that preschoolers will recognize. Washing faces, getting dressed, baking a pie, playing with puppets, reading a book, bathing, brushing teeth and hopping off to bed are all portrayed in Walker's softly colored full-page and double-page spreads or vignettes. Clearly the rabbits are full of affection. Their relationship could be parent and child, older sibling and younger or just roommates. As times passes, young readers will enjoy looking for the clock ticking off each hour until bedtime. Most hours prove to be a perfect moment to embrace. 'Two o'clock, three o'clock. What shall we do? / Bounce a ball, ride a bike, climb a tree, / go on a hike. Smell a flower, chase a bug-What time is it? / Time for a hug!' The pleasingly predictable rhyme will have preschoolers chiming in all the way to the page where the covers are pulled up.

Worth a pause and may well inspire a hug or two." -- Kirkus Reviews

Sweet and cozy, this books takes readers through the daily activities of a toddler, including hugs, of course! Cute bunnies don't need much of an excuse for a hug. Reassuring rhymes make this a great choice for very young children and toddlers. Very appealing.

I loved all the extra hugs I could get from my grandaughter as we read the book together. She know what to expect and enjoyed the hugs also.

This is an adorable story with equally cute illustrations. Our original copy was left on a plane and our son cried every night at bedtime for this book until the new copy arrived. He absolutely loves this book (and we don't mind reading it time and time again)!

I for sure loved this book.
There were two main reasons...
One, I am a big believer in hugs... they can make the worst day better!
Two, I loved that it was gender neutral! You read the book the way you see it... as a mother to a little boy, that was how I read it... but you could read it as a daddy to his daughter! Great addition to all libraries :)

This book became an instant favorite of my almost 3 year old son, he loves for my husband and I to read it to him and when it is "Time for a Hug" he yells it out with excitement and we both give him a hug. A great book right before bed!

We purchased this for our one year old. It is a sweet little story about hugs throughout the routine of a day with mom and toddler rabbits. I just fell in love with its sweetness and adorable illustrations. I think baby girl will like it more and more as she grows. Right now, it is this mommy's favorite.

My daughter first received this book for free from the local library's Gift of Reading program, we loved it so much that we're buying it for a baby shower in place of a card for our gift.
