5.0 out of 5 stars Modern Jazz Guitar Monster, March 31, 2009
"Time and the Infinite" Rogers fourth album, showcases him in a trio setting with bassist Scott Colley and drummer Bill Stewart. The album is a wonderful mix of Rogers own introspective compositions, and jazz standards including "Night and Day", "Young and Foolish", and Parker's great blues "Cheryl". Rogers who trained in classical guitar at the Mannes Conservatory brings out his nylon string axe for most of the originals, and sticks to a traditional electric jazz tone for the standards. The clarity, precision and speed of his picking attack on the straight ahead material is just phenomenal, immediately bringing to mind Pat Martino, though Rogers harmonic consept is more post bop. All in all, this is simply a fantastic recording.
