Havok is one of the best bands from the new wave of thrash.
PeaceSells215
I discovered HAVOK about a month ago and had to buy both their albums here, I'm sure glad i did.
THE TROOPER
If these new retro-thrash bands keep this up, thrash will be here to stay for quite some time.

I've been listening to Havok since before they were picked up by a label and they only keep getting better! "Time Is Up" is yet another masterpiece for my thrash metal collection. Every song makes you bang your head. Reece's guitar solos are blazing fast! David's vocals remind me of a mix of Death, Slayer, and Megadeth all rolled into one! Jesse's bass playing is crazy good and Pete's drumming is amazing! I recommend this CD to everyone who loves metal! The new kings of thrash have arrived and taken the throne by force!

Havok hadn't even registered a single strain of interest when I bought tickets to see Forbidden in concert. I just wanted to see a good friend and revisit our past forged in Thrash Metal. Fast forward to THE day in New Mexico, and a four-band ticket with no expectations except to see Forbidden and have a great time! Havok opened the show after setting up their own gear, and tore through a set that had me feeling like I was seeing Megadeth in '87 again!! From the first note, they played like their lives depended on this night...and because this show was so under-attended, I got right at the front, witnessing Pete, Dave, Jesse and Reece locking into a tight-knit groove song after song! David sounds like a rabid Mustaine and plays monster rhythm! Comparisons don't do them justice, but suffice to say, they evoke the best of Megadeth, Testament (I even hear Defiance!), Slayer, Overkill, Pantera, Exodus, and Anthrax. Jesse's finger-style/slap bass kills! Reece's solos are tasteful and understated! Pete was born with drum sticks in his hands, the guy is amazing! That's the cool thing: they are really in their infancy as a thrash band, still searching for themselves, expanding, and hitting the mark more than they are missing it....I hear so many riffs that are reminiscent of the GREATS, but are somehow contorted into the emerging HAVOK identity! The gang-vocals are a signature trait and work to awesome effect! Lastly, the guys are down-to-earth: Pete and Jesse took pictures, the whole band signed my Havok t-shirt, hung out with all the fans and were flat-out cool and friendly. These guys are carrying the torch in a serious way, people. Can't wait to see you in Arizona the next time! Cheers!

Wow! I am very impressed with this release from Denver natives Havok. They have been praised by metal legend Gene Hoglan for being pure and in your face thrash and by listening to this album I can see exactly why. If the approval of ex-Dark Angel, ex-Death, and current Dethklok drummer isn't enough, then feel free and take a listen for yourself. Right from the get go, this album gets your blood pumping with "Prepare for Attack". Definitely seems like an homage paid to Metallica and Megadeth with more intense vocals and beefed up production and drumming. The intensity doesn't let up for a minute as we hear " Fatal Intervention" open with it's Testament-like riff and then totally explode with the verse riff. Who had thought the days of catchy ,chanted thrash choruses were gone? I might have for a second but songs like this remind us of what made metal the ultimate form of expression and aggression in music. "D.O.A." is so very catchy and heavy as a ten ton hammer smashing your testes in that you may not have a face or a crotch after listening to it. They have definitely stepped up their approach for this record as you can tell there is more defined guitar leads and the overall intensity has actually tripled since "Burn". The title track is probably my favorite though. It closes the album out very well and leaves you wanting more and more. Seriously you will not want this record to end and you will be playing it on repeat for months to come and annoying all of your friends who don't listen to metal. Go and get it now cause there is no way in hell you can be disappointed with this album unless you prefer Justin Bieber. If you answered yes to the last question then you better run cause your "TIME IS UP"\m/

I was simply blown away by this remarkable Thrash Metal album! The riffs are super tight and none of the songs are too repetitive.
I grew up with Thrash metal back when Metallica's Ride The Lightning was new and I have to say I wish the production was as good back then as it is on Havok's Time Is Up! Havok is by far my favorite New Wave Of Thrash band out there. The vocals might not be everyone's preference. The singer sounds like a harsh version of Blitz from Overkill.
I downloaded all their albums from Amazon and Time Is Up is by far their best. Check out the songs "The Cleric", "No Amnesty" & "D.O.A." and you will see what I mean.

Havok's Time Is Up is a kick in your face old school style type of Thrash Metal like what was in the 80's you have your usual Blast Beats from the drums, The Guitar Rifts are like chu chu chu and the dudes vocals are just plan ass kool. Really you can't really ask for anything else now can you.

all n all If you like Thrash Metal or old school style Speed from the 80's this my friend is defiantly for you.

My introduction to Havok happened years ago when a buddy referred me to Thrasin Like a Maniac! I The only band from that compilation I need at the time was Bonded by Blood and they were awesome (they still are). That album led me to go see Warbringer live and was blown away. Then I started paying attention to Covering Fire and decided to give Havok a try. Man.... they did not disappoint. DOA is an instant classic and this whole album is fast, aggressive, and technical
