Although this title in the Time for Kids-Science Scoops series follows the handy, easy-reader-size format and red-and-yellow design scheme of the Time for Kids Biographies, which included Jackie Robinson [BKL F 1 05], this book on the ever-popular fish predator is intended for a younger audience. Children will find the simple text in the four topical chapters manageable, if sometimes vague; what will most grab their attention is the clean, striking design, with large type in contrasting colors set against photographs of a variety of shark species. The photos are most effective when they include indications of scale. Labeled at the highest reading level in a three-tiered system. Jennifer Mattson
