4.0 out of 5 stars great read
I read this book years ago and reread it just recently. It's tender and sweet and leaves you breathless. The only drawback is that the author dates the writing of the book with her use of modern-day celebrities- I didn't like that. It's a great story of a woman who lives in a time that has nothing for her- no special friends, family or events to keep her where she...

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely annoying and stupid
The book drags on and on about the heroine's silent suffering of having had a tooth pulled. As the reader I just didn't care and frankly became bored of reading about it. The reader is constantly reminded of the hero's similar appearance to Mel Gibson. Which is not my cup of tea in the looks department (and esp. the personality dept.). So everytime I wanted to imaging...

It's a great story of a woman who lives in a time that has nothing for her- no special friends, family or events to keep her where she is. She finds her destiny in the past. If you can open your mind enough to believe that this could happen, you will love this story.

4.0 out of 5 stars What A Good Book, December 10, 2011
This review is from: A Time For Love (Paperback)
I have to vent:

#1 People please utilize the FEEDBACK area of Amazon in order to give your opinion of your purchases not the book review section.

#2 I also have strong and somewhat mixed feelings about readers that don't read a book in it's entirety and leave a one/two star review. I believe without knowing how far a person has read we don't know if the book was given a fair chance.

#3 I have to disagree with Toadyhead who felt this book was "Absolutely annoying and stupid" It was neither.

and now for my review...

I'm not much on the going back in time type books, I always feel for the people left behind but in this case, I didn't even think about it once since. This book was written in such a manner that you wanted "Lizzy" to stay with the hero in the 1800's. I felt that it was a very entertaining well written plot and the characters were strong and solid.

My emotions were always being tested throughout, I laughed some and I sniffled a few times and became enraged as well.

There were things I disliked about it but my likes far outweighed the dislikes and I'm glad I read it. I was able to find it as a free download but would have paid about $4 and been happy to have invested in it. Happy reading Enjoy.

The reader is constantly reminded of the hero's similar appearance to Mel Gibson. Which is not my cup of tea in the looks department (and esp. the personality dept.). So everytime I wanted to imaging Harrison Ford I was jolted into imaging Mel Gibson. Blah. Also the hero is an ex confederate soldier. Yuck. So now I have to stomach Mel Gibson's looks on a bigot. Now that's just redundant. I just did not have the patience to finish this book. Into the denotion pile it west went. P.S. the story takes place in the late 1800s in the wild west of the U.S.

5.0 out of 5 stars A time-travel classic., July 30, 2011

StarPlayer (B'ham England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Time for Love (Paperback)
Elizabeth Mackenzie had decided long ago that happily-ever-after was just an illusion. Her career was what mattered, and the ambition that had carried her through many a lonely Saturday night brought her out west to land a new account for her firm. Then a force greater than anything she'd ever imagined took her even further.....back in time to 1876 and into the life of Jordan McCabe.

Mistaken for the proxy bride of the handsome Texas rancher, Elizabeth found a passion powerful enough to make her believe in love. But could she sacrifice all she had known for a fragile dream? As she struggled to understand the choices that lay ahead, Beth came face to face with her own destiny - and the desires that tempted her to surrender her very soul!

A great story.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Time for Love, October 26, 2000

This review is from: A Time For Love (Paperback)
I started reading Constance O'Day-Flannery's books back in 1987 and I was hooked! I especially like the way she connected her characters with her first few books. All of her stories have captured my heart. I have never been disappointed in her books, they take me to places I've only dreamed about and into the lives and loves of her characters. Once I pick up her book I cannot put it down. As with this book, "A Time for Love" I felt as if were there. She truly is a wonderful writer. I look forward to her next book with great anticipation and excitement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magically entertaining...., May 15, 2003

This review is from: A Time for Love (Paperback)
I love this story! The characters are warm and enjoyable to read. The tale, although obviously unbelievable, takes one on a fun fantasy ride. Elizabeth's travel to the past are created with a lot of humor and unusual circumstances. The fact that she has no family or friends, gives you a strong indication of where she will make her final choice to remain when the choice becomes hers. Nevertheless, this was a wonderfully entertaining story, filled with humor and romance. Highly recommended!
