More About the Author

Michael started learning to read and write at the grand old age of 3, and as a child he wrote some surprisingly good stories; unfortunately for him life intruded and his interest waned, that was until he discovered the internet. He developed a number of websites and given the response that he received got from some of his articles, he finally remembered that he could write. Discovering Kindle took him to the next stage where he has a number of books out, and a massive to do list still to write. His books have been mainly based around personal development, although he managed, and only just to get an adaptation of the Christmas Carol out, just before Christmas. He has started a novel, but with the amount of work that he has going it's progressing at an irritatingly slow rate. His book writing got a wee bit disrupted when he discovered magcasting and he is now the publisher of Your Personal Development. His current plans are to take his magazine to Kindle, and once Amazon's Newsstand is out of beta, he'll be there.

Okay, so I picked this up because my time management skills are a mess (maybe I should spent less time reading, lol)! I only managed to get through Grad School by making a daily list and then doing my best to get everything done before I collapsed from exhaustion at the end of the day. I rarely succeeded. So it was in the spirit of ″Help Me!″ that I downloaded this ebook. And I'm really glad I did! It was obvious just by how the book is structured that Michael is a very organized person. The book starts out with quotations about time management from a variety of sources, from Stephen Covey to Hugh Jackman. Michael then offers incisive analysis from his own experience before moving to the meat of showing you how to get a better handle on your time.

While the entire book was full of excellent insight and tips for time management, I found chapter 11 (Time Saving Tips) especially helpful. The first tip, ″listen to what is being said″ seems obvious, but it's actually easy to forget, especially when you are feeling stressed out. For example, I was seeing a movie with a friend and because I was stressing about getting the appointment into my calendar, I ended up hearing and writing in the wrong time, making myself a half hour late for our meeting. Thankfully we live in a time of cell-phones, but I was still late, and that meant that we missed the first five minutes of the movie. Worse, the stress of being late, making my friend late, and having to rush really put a pallor on the whole experience. Now I'm taking the time to listen carefully, so as to save myself time and stress in the long run. The rest of the chapter also is really helping me streamline my life.

In short, this book is well organized, clearly written, and offers a ton of useful information about how to manage your time. Well worth my time and money :)

The book starts off well but somewhere down the line...misses out on the edits... lot of repetitive stuff and loads of grammatical mistakes...as if mid-way the check on the work stops!!! Loved the first part of the book though!!!

As the author says 'Time Management is about the choices you have to make to achieve success.' This means clearing out clutter, revising your routines and prioritising. There are useful tips to overcome procrastination and an interesting chapter on 'drivers' that can have negative effects. This is only a small part of a very comprehensive study of the subject. It is written in a friendly, informal style - easy to read but gives the reader plenty to think about, and, hopefully, to act on.

I particularly liked the phrase "There are only 24 hours in every day. You cannot work 24 hours a day, and you cannot work until you drop. It would destroy your health, and destroy the quality of your work. You must learn not to work more, but to work smarter!"

It's an idea which i'm still trying to learn, and this book gave me some new form of inspiration! Thanks michael

There is much more to time management than creating a to do list every day. Not that to do lists aren't a good idea, but you'll never get through one if you're burdened with low self esteem, lack of focus or procrastination.

My main enemy is procrastination. I battle with it daily and never achieve my true potential as a result. Overcoming procrastination takes much more than just willpower, it takes an intimate understanding of what procrastination really is and what hidden benefits you are currently deriving from putting things off.

There is an extensive amount of information here on how to deal with procrastination and other aspects of your life that may be sucking away at your time. Although it's a solid book, it's easy to read given the author's writing style and sense of humour.

I have already implemented some of the techniques outline in this book and am starting to see the benefits.
