More About the Author

Borislav Pekic is considered one of the most important literary figures of the 20th century, continually attracting the attention of literary scholars and the public at large. His thorough knowledge of the long tradition of European thought from Plato to Friedrich Nietzsche, Sigmund Freud and Martin Heidegger, together with the artistic affiliation with his literary peers--Thomas Mann, James Joyce, Aldous Huxley, Samuel Beckett, George Orwell, and Alexander Solzhenitsyn--has greatly helped reintegrate Serbian literature into major European trends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, December 1, 2005
This review is from: The Time of Miracles (Writings from an Unbound Europe) (Paperback)
This is one of the most interesting books I ever read. Mr. Pekic extends the Christian mythology in the surprising and not predictable way, keeping all the time a logical (but very different) approach and a consistent story. He does not suggest anything, but telling the story in his style, he forces a reader to come to sensational conclusions/explanations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pekic questions our faith and god's faith in us., September 21, 2000

This review is from: The Time of Miracles (Writings from an Unbound Europe) (Paperback)
Christ had a mission on this earth. There was a prophesy that needed to be fulfiled. For Christ to be proven a real son of the God he had to perform the miracles. Did he perform the miricles as to get the credibility to represent his Father or to save the humankind?

What if those people that the miracle was performed on didn't want to be saved? Was He prepared to wrongfuly harm a few people for the benefit of our race? What an impact would such a assumtion have on our faith?

Read The Time of Miracles as to get a difrent perspective on cristian mythology, you will be amazed with the original and brave content of this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is a very good book and I strongly recomend it., October 31, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Time of Miracles (Writings from an Unbound Europe) (Paperback)
This book represents the time of early communism in Yugoslavia, but also is "a quest for meaning of life" as all of Pekic's books are (e.g. "Golden Wool" in seven books).
