5.0 out of 5 stars Best CD of the Year
Yes that title is true. Among the best rap cd's of the year (Kottonmouth Kings, Threee-Six-Mafia, Insane Clown Posse, Twiztid, C-Murder) there is no doubt this is the best. I just heard of SPM so this is the first album I've bought of his. Now I realize I've missed alot of good rap the past few years. Dopehouse can really turn out phat beats and smooth rhymes. The...

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't Believe the Hype
Despite a few good tracks ("Oh My My," "Somethin' I Would Do"), "Time Is Money" is a lackluster album. The beats are repetitive, and SPM's flow is so-so at best, and he really doesn't speak on anything new or provocative. You'd be much better off borrowing and dubbing this album from someone who bought it off the rack.

The best songs are every song except for 14. Get this cd and you will wear it out I promise

5.0 out of 5 stars SPM: Originality in Hip-Hop!, December 14, 2000

With so much of the same thing in hiphop, and everyone bitin' on everyone else's stuff, it's so refreshing to find an artist that goes against the grain, and creates a unique sound and style that defies definition.

SPM (or 'south park mexican') is doing something musically right now, that no one else in his genre (hiphop) is even remotely close to. His ruff growly voice flows effortlessly over laid back funk tracks and melodic bounce beats continuously througout the album. Truly an original artist, SPM represents Houston and raps of a tuff ghetto life and comin up in 'hustle town'. But his lyrics reflect a different outlook than most rappers in 2000; instead of 'flossin' with 'ice' and 'hoes', SPM delivers clever writings filled with humorous quirks and slanguage.

The best songs on the album are by far 'coutry life', 'burn us alive', 'something i would do', 'hes a bird hes a plane', 'hillwood hustlaz' and the title track.

Signed to the same record label as recent rookie rap sucess Nelly (universal records) SPM deserves to go as far as the St. Louis native did earlier this year. And with the right marketing and a hit single video, he might do just that.

This album is definitely on my top 5 rap list for 2000! (and believe me i've heard a lot of albums this year...)

He brings a new style with him that works. The best songs on here are ohh wee and the remix to you know my name. There is only one bad song on here. Go pick it up it you wont be dissapointed.
