More of a "Best Of" guide than an encyclopedia
This guide is a great supplement to a standard guide book. It will not describe every town, nor will it have maps of all the sights in the cities. They seem to expect you will be able to find that in another book or on a map from your hotel. What this book does very, very well is provide focus for your trip. Don't do it!
I had heard so much about Time Out's Buenos Aires guide that I thought this'd be the one to get. It also was the most recent (I went last July). Barely used it at all-- confusing organization, horrible "maps," lots of gaps. I downloaded sections from the new Lonely Planet when I was there & it was much better.

This guide is a great supplement to a standard guide book. It will not describe every town, nor will it have maps of all the sights in the cities. They seem to expect you will be able to find that in another book or on a map from your hotel. What this book does very, very well is provide focus for your trip. We found that places we discovered in this book were very enjoyable - whether it be a restaurant, hotel, or even a whole city - and many other places that were left out of the book were left out for good reason. So if you are planning a trip to the region and want some help narrowing down your choices, this book is a great help.
