A cheeky, fun, inciteful book by people who know London,
This review is from: Time Out London (Time Out Guides) (Paperback)
Time Out knows the pulse of the city like very few do, and it shows - they update their London guide every year. You get all the tried and true favorites - Parliament, the Abbey, St. Paul's - but also tons of places you might not find covered anywhere else. That said, the tone can get a bit cheeky, and sometimes you wish they wouldn't use British slang. But all in all, Time Out loves its mother-city, and they want you to fly back home feeling the same way!

I always use the Time Out guides as my first choice for any city they cover. I've used successive editions of the London guide every time I go. They are incredibly packed with useful and up-to-date information, and also hip, well-written, and fun to read. They've made a big difference in my travel experiences!

Excellent Guide,

This was a very helpful guide for my recent visit to London. I never left my hotel without it in my purse. The street maps were the most helpful of any guidebook I'd purchased. Time Out offers great insight into the pulse of the city. What's hip and happening as well as traditional sightseeing information. I would have liked more restaurant information though. Overall, I'd recommend it as a great London guide.

I was disappointed in the book. It is not very informative. It is mostly ads for places and sites in London. Not a lot of information on each site. I does not talk about tours or special places in London that I would like to know about. Places off of the beaten path. I wish that I had purchased the Lonely Planet book instead.

Consistently the best guide book,

TimeOut is the most informative time and again for those who want a local's version of the city. Rough guide to London is also good. Accurate information, honest opinions, and neat tid-bits that you might not find on your own.

This book was VERY handy for our trip to London last week. Just wish it had more info about restaurants, clubs, and afternoon tea.

I am very impressed with the Time Out Guide which I just purchased. It has all the very best information about visiting London and makes seeing this wonderful city much easier. London is a complex city with so much to offer that it takes a really good guide book to help you through. You have provided that with this book. Thank you.

This review is going to be a very short one.
The Time Out guides are almost invariably a great source of valuable information. The London guide is one of the oldest, if not the oldest of the Time Out series, and the amount of expertise and, more importantly, to my mind, off-beat suggestions, e.g., where to find a restaurant specializing in Mongolian Hot Pot, makes it invaluable. There is only a minor problem with the guide; it is revised each year, so that Time Out London from 2005, when it was perfectly good, may have a bit too much outdated information |
