5.0 out of 5 stars Enyas Watermark + Mars Lasars Eleventh Hour= Time Passengers, December 29, 2001
This review is from: Time Passengers (Audio CD)
I bought this album primarily for the song Eternal after hearing the Earthtone Collection CD but what I got instead was probably some of the best New Age music that I have ever listened to. This album is diverse in sound with some romantic pop-oriented songs and some dark sonic oriented songs. To put it this way this album is like a story to me. This album is like the incredible Watermark by enya meets the sonic space oriented Eleventh Hour by Mars Lasar.

World Of Wonders is a beautiful pop-oriented song with beautiful vocals. This song is very playful and brings up images of two lovers running along a flower covered landscape with the sun shining. Don't be fooled by this song because while this song is bright and playfl the rest of the album is dark. Skies Above Loveland is an electronic piece with some classical influences, electronic keyboards, acoustic and stunning vocals. Euphoria is an upbeat song with beautiful vocals and some Gothic chants. This song is another bright song. The Miracle Of Moona is radiant. It's dark mournful with ambient keyboards, and even has some Native American chants. This song is absolutely breathtaking. There are some violins in the middle of the song with some sonic sounds in the background. Eternal is the one that made me buy this album. It starts off with the sound of children playing in the back ground. Then some ambient keyboards, and then the beats fade in. The vocals are among the best on this album. This song is very ambient with the almost danceable beat. Fairyland is probably the last upbeat song in this album. The trumpet and acoustic guitars are amazing. This song maorphs into a very upbeat song. After this song the album becomes dark and stormy. History Of The Sandman is a very dark song with electronic keyboards, stunning violins and Gregorian chants. The title track is completely opposite to World Of Wonders. It's probably the darkest track in this album. It's very dark, ambient, ominous, electronic with blips and chants that sort of remind me a bit of Enya. I could play this song when riding in the car when it's like late at dusk or early at dusk when it's raining or stormy outside. Give this song a listen. It's absolutely breathtaking. Sleep is the one that established this album as my favorite New Age album of the 1990s. This song is almost as dark as Time Passengers but with cellos, electronic keyboards, and chants that strongly remind me of Enya. This song is sort of like a dark, stormy version of Enya Orinoco Flow but this song beats Orinoco by a wide margin. Fans of Orinoco Flow should listen to this song. Rain Temple is a dark, creepy song with mostly ambient synths and church organs with water dripping in the background. This song is absolutely amazing. Minuit brings this stunning album to a mournful slose. It starts off with air traffic control radio and electronic blips. The keyboards eventually fade in and pretty much are what play throughout the song accompinied with some violins. This song is very stormy. This song is a great closer to this masterpiece.

This has got to be the greatest New Age album I,ve ever listened to. Not even Enya could match the power of this album. Why this album went by unnoticed is beyond me because this shatters new ground in New Age. I strongly recommend New Age lover to get this CD. It's absolutely stunning, magical and breathtaking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must buy! Absolutely brialliant!, November 28, 2002

This review is from: Time Passengers (Audio CD)
"Time Passengers" is indeed a brilliant album! It features very nice and soothing female vocals (credit goes to Cora O'Donovan from Ireland), with very melodic rhythm, plus great and rich music + vocal arrangement. I have started to fall in love with Cora's Enya-alike vocals when I first heard of their latest project called Elysia, which consists of the original F.R.E.U.D. members, plus a new male member Aliterza Sanatjou who is the "male version" of Cora O'Donovan. His voice is very soothing and attractive. The title of Elysia's debut stunning new age album is called "Spirit Of The Sun", which feature the best track named "Elysium", featuring Cora's best vocals performance ever! Very melodic, ambient music arrangement, accompanied by very nice Spanish guitar! You can simply melt when you listen to this track! This album is released in Europe and Asia (Singapore). So for all F.R.E.U.D or new age fans, ...- the new F.R.E.U.D project!!!
From the "Time Passengers" album , I love "Sleep" the most!!! A very outstanding song!

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Music, Deserves A Second Review, May 14, 2000
This review is from: Time Passengers (Audio CD)
I had been eyeing this release for the cover for quite some time now and judging by some of the reviews here decided to pick it up, and boy was I amazed! Cora O'Donovan has one of the most mesmerizing singing voices I have ever heard, and it fits well with the ambient-future/Celtic/dance-techno soundscapes presented here. Some of the tracks, such as the single "World Of Wonders", "Skies Above Loveland", "Euphoria", "Fairyland" and "Sleep" are very pop oriented, sounding a little like Enigma mixed with some Celtic influence, with a dash of eurodance thrown in. Robert Miles appears to be a strong influence on some of the tracks with the echoing accoustic guitar. Orchestra hits permeate the more pop tracks. On the flip side there are some ethereal aurally sonic tracks, especially the title track, "Rain Temple" and "Minuit" that have little or no vocals, but, if programmed in order on your CD player, creat the perfect backdrop for sleep. I am surprised "World Of Wonders" didn't make an impact on the charts in America--it is simply an amazing song. When I was listening to this on my discman this morning while walking through my gardens I could honestly say I was in aural rapture. As a last note, it says on a sticker on the cover that members of F.R.E.U.D. (a trio) are made up of members of two bands called U96 and Cork. While I have no idea who Cork is (and that is probably where Cora O'Donovan came from), U96 is a very good euro-techno outfit from Germany that apparently has stopped recording. Cuts like "Love Religion" and "Heaven" are classics from U96. And, BTW, "aural" means having to do with the ears. :) This review has been updated by me as I have changed my e-mail and such. Any questions on new-age music can be sent to my old email.

5.0 out of 5 stars Next Reviewer Please!, June 26, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Time Passengers (Audio CD)
Okay, so it's been over a year since I've seen a review on this cd, I suppose it's time to see something new! First of all, anyone interested in hearing an outstanding female voice, here is your chance! Cora O'Donovan's voice resonates throughout this entire cd and you continue to feel her in your soul even hours after you've listened to this cd. It beckons you to listen again, and again, and again. You get the point! The only reason I didn't give this review 6 stars, okay, it's obvious, the haven't released anything new in what, 5 or 6 years. Only their Trance to the Sun under their new name "Elisia" which was okay. Had Cora done all the singing and not the "male version" of Cora, it would have been a better listen. Nonetheless, a great cd for those who crave that unusual female voice that just "stays with you" this is the cd!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful Haunting and Hypnotic Musical Dreamscape., January 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Time Passengers (Audio CD)
Imagine if Enigma had Enya singing vocals but was way cooler, and you sort of get the idea of what F.R.E.U.D. sounds like. Cora O'Donovan's mesmerizing vocals mixed with a hypnotic electronic soundscape make this disc an instant classic. With songs like the truly beautiful "Skies Above Loveland", the haunting "Eternal", and the futuristic instrumental "Time Passengers", F.R.E.U.D. proves that they are definately musical innovators. I highly recommend this CD to fans of Enigma, Enya, Jean Michel Jarre and Tangerine Dream.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost 5 Stars...maybe if I live and savor it a bit longer., December 5, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Time Passengers (Audio CD)
This starts out with an enchanting electronic, siren of a song called World of Wonders and continues to get better and better. Similar to October Project, Enya, and many other mood music but really something fresh about this disc. Well worth checking out. I just wish I could find something by U96 or Cork, the bands which F.R.E.U.D. members come from.

5.0 out of 5 stars "DON'T YOU HEAR THAT SWEET SERENADE?, January 16, 2003
This review is from: Time Passengers (Audio CD)
When I first listened to TIME PASSENGERS I was slightly disappointed because it appeared to be simple music. I felt it could have been better in many ways. Yet, with each new listen, I felt more depth as it imprinted itself upon my heart. And it still does with each listen. The music is like the ocean's tides being pulled back and forth by the moon. Eternally moving. Back and forth. Just like life.

For me, TIME PASSENGERS is a portal into a deeper realm of consciousness--of BEING. Perfect title! I love how the enchanting vocals of Cora O' Donovan blend into and become one with the music. I've found something that achieves a delightfully rare, delicate balance in music--neither the voice nor the music dominate--but are equal. I love it when this happens! The lyrics edify me and equally important, the Music confirms it.

This is a very special cd to me that I dedicate TODAY to a very special friend on her birthday. TIME PASSENGERS is so close to my heart and so are you. Life is eternal and our friendship is eternal. Happy Birthday, Moongoddess!

Unspoken lyrics to "Time Passengers": "You know you've been here before. You know you'll come back again. We travel in time with our minds. We travel in time with our hearts. Fantasy. Reality. Eternity. Unity. Destiny."

Close your eyes and step inside this music. You may not care to return for hundreds of earth years. Travel through time and...

Soar!
