Ray Price has one of the greatest voices of all time, and this album is truly a treasure. It's traditional Country the way it should be done. Ray has surrounded himself with top-notch musicians here, including Buddy Emmons, Pete Wade, and Buddy Harman. I think this is Ray's best album in several years. I don't think there's a bad song on here. I highly recommend this album.

Could it get better than this, the pure, hard-won, heart-breaking truths that true country music offers grown-ups?

Ray Price started out as a honkytonk singer and near-clone of Hank Williams, with whom he even roomed for a time in 1952. Over the next few years, however, he developed an original, rhythm-driven style that would virtually define country music in the later 1950s and 1960s. Then he moved on to a smooth, orchestral country-pop style which, truth be told, he did better than anybody since. But it's his small-group, honkytonk-shuffle music that will cement his reputation as one of the immortal country artists.

Over the past three decades he has occasionally returned to that style. Time, his latest, plays to Price's greatest strengths, starting with song selection. Price has always known the difference between a good song and the other stuff. The title tune, by Max D. Barnes, is a tour-de-force, a fierce, unsentimental look at time, "a monster that lives in our clocks/ It's heartless and shows no remorse..../ Like a beast in the jungle/ That devours its young." Except for Cindy Walker's good-natured Western-swing workout "Ft. Worth, Texas," the songs are dark, reflective, melancholy evocations of the toll time's passing and love's wounds inflict. There is the staggering "Both Sides of Good Bye," which will pierce the heart of any listener who's been there and who knows all too well what Price is singing about.

If Nashville music has turned into a vast Hallmark greeting card, Price's art is akin to the letter that remains after love has died ("Take Back Your Old Love Letters") or an adult's fatalistic resignation to faded love ("If It's All the Same to You"). Price tells these stories backed by a superb country band. Though his voice is showing its age around the edges, that only deepens the extraordinary emotion and experience he so starkly and beautifully evokes. This is a great record which deserves to be remembered as long as real country music is remembered.

What a great CD. Still one of the grestest voices in all music. This CD is Better than anything they now call country music. Too bad it will never be played on main stream radio.

Like fine wine, the older Ray gets the better he sounds. From the first cut on this cd "YOU JUST DON'T LOVE ME ANYMORE" I knew this was gonna be another Ray Price masterpiece. He has a good mixture of songs that really stand out; like "TIME", BOTH SIDES OF GOODBYE", "IF IT'S ALL THE SAME TO YOU", "NO ONE BUT YOU', AND "THE NEXT VOICE YOU HEAR", is truly pure country music at it's best. The entire cd is a gem, backed up with some of the finest pickers, such as Buddy Emmons, Harold Bradley, Jimmy Capps, Pete Wade, and harmony vocals by Vince Gill. It just don't get any better than this. I play this cd everyday and I just don't get tired of listening to it. I sure hope he comes out with at least one more. A great combination : Ray Price and the Nashville "A" team to record the session. A must have album for any classic country fan, especially the Ray Price fans. Keep up the great work Ray. Ray Price is a giant of post-Hank country music, with a series of classics recorded in the fifties and sixties.

Already middle-aged, he scored a huge comeback crossover hit in the seventies with "For the Good Times".

He is now old and sagacious, and has cut a fabulous album, "Time."

It recalls his classic country style, but is enfused with the wisdom and perspective the years have brought to him.

Kind of like a country version of Sinatra's "September of my Years."

Just when you think you've heard Ray Price at his best ... along comes a CD complilation that proves again the fact "the man" is ageless when it comes to delivering a song in a manner that appeals to all.

"TIME", the title song, could very well be the best thing Price has warbled in over a decade. It's an outstanding, almost haunting song with "chilling" lyrics and a matching melody. Add the "Ray Price Treatment" and, to me, it projects near perfection. However, the fans of this super singer should not be surprised. Price is simply the "Master" when it comes to delivering a song with ease, depth and artistic control.

There are also 11 other tunes on this collection that make this one of the greatest CDs to come our way in some time.

The timeless "TIME", finds RAY PRICE's VOCALS in fine, peak form and at the top of his game on this album. Though his handsome face has grown a bit ragged and weathered with the passage of time, age has NOT diminished his ability to sing and deliver among the finest vocals of his almost 60 year career as an entertainer[1948 to present]. This entire album speaks for itself, with one winning song after another, showcasing RAY's perfect melodic voice, which has only grown richer, more robust and more expressive than ever, as time has passed. Ah...but, beautiful! RAY PRICE is the definitive 'Frank Sinatra of Country Music'!

Even in his eighth decade, Ray Price's voice is the best in the business. This CD is full of great music with the title track, Time, being one of those songs that you'll appreciate more and more as you get older. No matter what type of music you like, this album will be one of your favorites. Put it on, get comfortable and just listen.

Just as George Jones laments, "Who'll play the Opry...," I wonder who will sing the ballad when Ray Price is gone? "Time" captures it all, not just for Ray's impeccable voice, but for all the great musicians backing him up. Buddy Emmons on pedal steel backing up Ray Price defines country music.

I have sorta been a fan for many years, after hearing my parents play his old albums in the 70's. I thought not long ago I would revisit his music after seeing his new cd on the shelves. Man what a singer. His voice is rich and full and in complete control. A wonderful production, great choice of songs, musicians and sung as only Ray can do it. My favorite is "I'm Not Leaving, I'm Just Getting Out Of The Way". POWERFUL. That song alone is worth the price of the cd. Thank you Amazon.com for making avialable all the Ray Price cd's at great prices. I will be back for more. Don't let this one slip through your fingers, its music, country music, at its best. Sung by the best.
