Diagnosed as low normal B12 by endocrinologist and selected NatureMade because their products have no artificial colors, no artificial flavors, no chemical solvents, no yeast, starch or gluten. Long time purchaser of NatureMade.

I use B-12 to improve my blood's iron content. It was nice to have it come to me rather than going to the store for it, and the price was attractive, too.

I like Nature Made brands. Plus, it is part of the Amazon free shipping.
It is a good price, and I will definitely buy this one again.

As you age - you become deficient in B-12. My doctor indicated either shots or pills. I opted for the pills. You don't need much but the human body has a hard time absorbing - thus this big dose. My blood work indicates the B-12 pills work and continue to work the past 12 years.

There is simply no need to take this much B12 for a normal individual. The RDA is 2-3mcg and the DV is about 6mcg (due to intrinsic factor, you absorb about 2-3mcg of the 6 that you consume). When you consume 1,000mcg, you are only going to absorb about 10mcg of that. This product is simply overkill. For nearly everyone, you can get more than enough B12 by following a relatively balanced diet. If you are averse to balanced diets than you might look into a more reasonable multivitamin or at the very least a less potent supplement of B12, although there does not appear to be any harm to ingesting high amounts of B12.
For one with a very serious malabsorptive disease though, 1000mcg supplements are recommended; this is something one should obviously consult with their doctor about. |
