From the Back Cover

The only comprehensive architectural reference for buildings of all types, this new edition of Time-Saver Standards for Building Types offers easily referenced technical guidelines, criteria, standards, and specifications to make the preliminary and planning work of designers and builders go more quickly and smoothly.

The classic architectural data resource for all building types, now up to date for a new century, with 1500 illustrations

This updated and revised Time-Saver Standards for Building Types is a "first reference" and primary source of guidance for design and material selection. It lists in easily accessible format the key criteria that every architect and builder must consider in designing, specifying, and constructing buildings--data needed to prepare preliminary designs, execute programming requirements, and analyze the functions and uses of any building. This volume is the only comprehensive reference covering all building types.

The Fourth Edition features key data on topical issues such as rehabilitation, change-of-use, preservation, accessibility, and energy conservation and other environmental concerns. A new graphic design with new illustrations makes this source more helpful than ever to use.

Time-Saver Standards for Building Types provides a comprehensive overview of a range of building structures. An invaluable guide for review of technical data, it is equally appropriate for use in continuing education courses, in preparation for professional licensing exams, and in schools of architecture.

This is a book that sometimes resembles Neufert's, but it has a lot of additional information you might need that will make easier the process of designing various types of buildings. It gives you notions, ideas, proportions, measures and everything you need to know when starting a project. A must-have to any architect (specially with these incredible low-priced used ones. I got mine for 13 bucks and it's absolutely like new).

i have the 3rd edition and it looks really old. i mean the style of the printing. a lot of them look like it is scanned from hand drawn pieces. i have no problems with that. i just got used to it. information-wise, it provides much of what your need to know about architecture conventions. i have a copy of AIA's architectural graphic standard, 11th edition. it couldn't compare to this one. this one is specifically written according to building types so you know what to look for when you encounter one program of your building such as a loading dock or auditorium. it is also easy to navigate from the contents list. good to have when designing your building.

I had this book in architecture school and it was a great way to get rule of thumb info to make up for my lack of experience. I bought it again (my last copy went missing) because now as a professional, I can save a lot of time in SD by having a quick reliable reference life this.

Great resource and time saver for getting a basic understanding of various building types. I was able to design a schematic church layout for a pastor and his congregation with the aid of this book. The book enabled me to review various plan configurations, program considerations, and rules of thumb. I took this information along with the pastor's information to develop a architectural schematic layout that pleased the pastor and his congregation.
