3.0 out of 5 stars Title misleading - very little of Andrea Bocelli singing
Disappointing when the title indicates both artists are featured. Only the last half of the first song, "Time to Say Goodbye" has Bocelli's voice. Out of four total songs, two are the same song.

I had never heard of Ms' Brightman untill I heard her duet with Andrea Bocelli on one of our local FM stations. The music left me with a haunting feeling that I had been missing something wonderfull and grand. I purchased the CD and have played it everyday since adding it to my collection. Each time I listen to it I discover something new and thrilling. Ms' Brightman brings to music a soft, lyrical voice, yet powerfull enough to hit the "big ones." Her duets with Bocelli and Cura are excellent. I would like to hear Sarah with my all time favorite tenor Pavarotti. It would also be intersting to see her on stage with Kathleen Cassello and Kallen Esperian. Give us more of lovely voice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Miss Brightman in Eden, September 24, 2000
This review is from: Eden (Audio CD)
WOW, WHAT A VOICE!! IT'S A MUST GET! What a way to start my millenium off musically! "Eden" Is one of my favorite albums of all time.I originally purchased "Eden" for myself when it arrived in the stores. Before playing it to death, I gave it to a friend. I bought another, replacing the 1st one right away. Later on, while checking for new Sarah material, I came across the double set. I decided to buy it over the net almost immediately. When I recieved the disc in the mail, I decided to give my 2nd one away. Only then did I realise that The set only slightly differed from my two other cds. So now my friend & I were even.

THE MUSIC REVIEW: Track 1 "In Paradisum" is gothic and I think it's a great intro to her cd. It kind of tells you what is to come. I think she should have called it "Prelude". "Eden" is beautiful. This track expresses her point of the album. "So many things" is short & sweet. I love the track "Anytime, Anywhere". It is totally opera. It sends shivers up & down my spine when she hits the high notes. "Bailero" is dreamy and nice to listen to at full blast. "Dust in the wind" is okay and I might have rated the cd 5 stars, but I'm seriously not too crazy about this track. This is only because, to me, the song doesn't fit the environment of the rest of the cd. "Il mio cuore va" is beautiful. Sarah has gone all the way with this hit, singing it in Italian. The high notes are flawless. Of course, the song took off when Celine Dion sang it too. "Deliver me" including the gospel choir in the background is haunting. The track that makes me cry is "Un jour Il viendra" or "one day he'll come back". She starts off with a voice of an angel, then gradually ascending into a vocalise of tear jerking emotion. "Nella Fantasia" is another one of tear jerkers, which originally was written as an instrumental by (Ennio Morricone). "Tu" is pretty sung in Spanish. It was written by (Jose Maria Cano) of the Mexicain pop group (Mecano). Lascia Ch'io Pianga" is pretty too. Sarah's voice soars, as in all her tracks. The next track, "Only an ocean away" is amazing to hear. She starts out with her popsational voice, then going into her operatic "bel canto" style, and again returning full volume to end the track. "Scene d'amour" is another one of Sarah's fine vocalises, letting her talent fill your ears.Track 15, "Nessun Dorma" (Puccini): is the best track of all. This song was originally written for a tenor voice, but Sarah got her hands on it just the same. She is the first soprano to ever claim this track in her repertoire. The track starts out with the dreamy strings section, then her voice sweeps in like an angel, ascending into an amazing high B sharp, leaving the listener breathless. The last 15 sec. of the track are where my hair stands on end. Simply amazing!

Disc 2 starts with the best seller "Time to say goodbye" with Andrea Bocelli. The song is a tribute to (Henry Maske). It is the version from the cd "Time to say goodbye" or "Timeless" (import). I have always loved this track. Next is the never released before track, "Sleep tight". It is more new age. Track 3 "You take my breath away" is taken from her EAST/WEST label import album "Fly". The music starts with her vocalising in Indian. The beginning sounds sort of like a tribal celebration. It is an enchanting song, entirely different from any of her previous music. Track 4 is the "Intimate" version of "Time to say goodbye". Sarah starts with her lovely solo, then taking the part Bocelli would originally sing. Sarah's high note at the end of the track is cut short due to it being a solo. This doesn't spoil the track, though. The 5th and last track is titled "Desert Rose". Sarah's voice is sweet, but not operatic in the song. The tune both haunting and a tear jerker too.

Inside the liner notes, there are beautiful photos of Sarah. The theme of the cd is of a paradise she has made herself. She lies on the couch almost trance-like. Red is the perfect color for the visual presentation. There is also a black & white photo of Brightman & Bocelli on the cover of the 2nd disc. The disc is a collector's item, labeled "Limited Millenium Edition". This disc is worth the money. Sarah Brightman fans will be delighted to have such a set. GO GET IT NOW!!

5.0 out of 5 stars I have been touched by angels..., September 3, 1998
By A Customer
Classical music is as foreign to me as the Italian language; yet, the combination of Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman singing, Con Te Partiro, has "removed the scales from my eyes and the deafness from my ears." Listening to them sing together on CD and watching them perform on, "Bocelli, a night in Tuscany" has filled me with emotion and made me feel as if I have been touched by angels. Although I'm not a connoiseur of opera nor the classics, I know what I like. This is IT! I can think of no other time that I have been so moved. The Three Tenors are good, but Bocelli is GREAT! Adding the angelic voice Sarah Brightman is the crowning touch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mind changed about TTSG single and more, December 24, 2000
This review is from: Eden (Audio CD)
Once upon a time, back in October 2000, I changed my mind about the TTSG single, particularly after getting used to it (which was just like two weeks after I got it). It's no surprise that it had to be repackaged with Eden for this special Millennium Edition, which I don't have. The only difference is, on this Millennium Edition, the song "Desert Rose" was entered as the last track. Would make a great collector's item. As a Sarah fan, I have eight of her albums and several rare singles of hers, including A Question of Honour, Just Show Me How To Love You, the TTSG single, and I'm still trying for How Can Heaven Love Me.

Anyway, I'm listening to the TTSG single right now as I type. And what an amazing surprise it is. The tracklist goes:

1. The title duet. Everyone knows the song already. Probably the best performance Sarah has ever given and probably ever will give since her more well-known Andrew Lloyd Webber interpretations. And Bocelli, my favorite singer, sings directly in your face, as if he put the words right in your mouth and made you cry.

2. Sleep Tight. Previously unreleased. Damn good rarity, even though On The Nile, which can be most likely found on Napster, is the best out of all the rare Sarah songs I've heard. It's not forgettable in my book.

3. You Take My Breath Away. I have more affection for this song just because it made its way onto this single.

4. Time To Say Goodbye (Sarah's Intimate Version). Same as the actual duet except Sarah sings the whole song by herself.

Fat chance even though I kind of like Andrea's CTP somewhat better. No wonder this single spent so long at #1 over in Germany and became so damn successful. Probably one of the best singles ever to go out on the market. It's worth it. You might be wondering "Where the hell can you get JSMHTLY, QOH, or HCHLM?" Or this single. All except this single are rare. In this case, e-mail me at honour2001@netzero.net and I'll see what I can do.

Until then, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice single, May 4, 2002
This review is from: Time to Say Goodbye (Audio CD)
Like I said, the single is nice, but I also have pretty much the same thing in my 2 cd set called Time to Say Goodbye/Eden.

The songs are nice, and the single introduces a very pretty song called "Sleep tight". The lyrics in this song are haunting, and represent a Sarah from another world. Same with "You take my breath away". These two songs give TTSGB single the flavour it needs. I'm not saying that TTSGB is a bad song. It's not, but what I mean is that the single needed a boost by putting some lesser known tracks in.

The cover is unusual, and it probably would have looked nicer as a full cover shot. It's funny, this is the only time that I ever saw this single listed on amazon.com. I am glad to review it.

Back to the title song. The cd version and the solo (intimate version) are both nice. I like the ending of the solo version slightly better because of the sudden ending. There is no boom from the accoustic bass at the end though, compared to the original. For Sarah to take on both verses of the song was a nice change, for the song takes on a whole different air.

The cd is worth it, because at least there are songs which are a lot newer, yet less known, as well as one song that was never heard before...

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely beautiful!!!!, August 3, 1999
By A Customer
Time to say goodbye, take my breath away, and Sleep tight, were recorded and sent to me by my Irish friend. Because of the realtionship I have with my Irish friend, the music not only was haunting and beautiful, but it reached into my heart and soul and actually made me cry. I must say I am not a crier, but her voice is just too incredible for words. I love that woman!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A CLASSICAL SINGER FOR NEW AGE LISTENERS!!!, June 24, 1998
By A Customer
I have been a fan of Brightman since I bought my first Andrew Lloyd Weber CD years ago. My daughter, who's all of 16 months has been listening to Brightman since my pregnancy, and to this day recognizes the voice and music. Brightman's new CD "Time to Say Goodbye" was my first of hers but certainly not my last. Her voice carries your soul to the top of the skies, lets it rise and fall on the wind, and lowers you to the ground on angel's wings. Voices like this make you jealous of gifts such as she possesses. The CD is certainly tonic for the troubled times, and even though I was a punk rocker in my teens, a new waver in my youth, and a redneck fan in my young adulthood, I am proud to say I drive down the street with my car top down, and Sarah and Andrea, Jose Cura, and Sarah herself blaring. And I have quite a few young adults, teens, asking me, "Who is that singin'?" Which my reply is Brightman. Sarah Brightman. And their reply? "Cool." Cool indeed. Sarah, I love you, my family loves you, and my 16 month old daughter, loves you. When I play your music, video or otherwise, she stands in front of the entertainment center, arms outstretched, and hollers for more when it's over. You sing her to sleep, you bring her awake, and your voice soothes her when she's ill. My voice would just make things worse. Bravi, Bravi, Bravissimo...Where in the world have I been hiding?
