My three year old grandson and I love Mo Willems. This one isn't quite as good as our favorites which are "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus" and "The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog" but Max enjoys repeating all the please words written across the page. We'd recommend it!

TIME TO SAY 'PLEASE'!,

Perfect for the attention span of the little ones with enough substance for the over fives. With Mo Willems there is a "little" something on the pages for future reads. This one has a cute game inside the jacket.

My family spends a lot of time at the library. My kids love picking out their own books and I'm always encouraging them to pick new titles we haven't read. But once "Time to Say Please" came home, it quickly became a favorite of my then 3-year-old daughter. She still enjoys it at age 6. The illustrations are cute and the text jumps off the page. And the message is fantastic. I felt obligated to buy it so other kids could check it out from the library once in a while!

Great book as an intro to manners for little ones. My daughter was already saying please and thank you when we got her this book, we thought it would be a good reminder book though and she loves the story. Very cute.

I was a bit disappointed with this book. I was looking for somehthing that would explain to my kids why you should be polite. Basically all the book says is to say please...litterally! I'm a fan of Mo Willems, my son and I love Leonardo the Terrible Monster, this one just lacked substance.

Big fan of Mo Willems. We are doing everything to enforce "manners" at every opportunity and we needed a book to reinforce "please". She already uses "thank you" pretty well. This was an immediate hit and it's her #1 pick every night. She's yet to utilize "please" consistently but it's only been a week! I think we're well on the way....

This is a fun book to help teach your toddler manners. Our daughter just turned 2 and has been saying please and thank you. This book reinforces it in a fun and lightheated way! Love Mo Willems and his great illustrations too! Great way to help teach manners. Good bargain price too!

Boring for young children, great for 4 yo!,

This book holds no interest for me. The only part I appreciate is that it holds my 2 year old daughters interest when we were trying to teach her to say please, etc. She loves the girl with the flower on her shirt who asks her father "May I have a cookie, Please?" There are other scenarios presented where a child might say please and other times you can be polite, like excuse me, etc.
The artwork is simple pen drawings, with a lot of mice helping direct the children to say the right thing. Really, they provide all that is interesting to the book. Edit: I have changed my rating from 3 stars to 4 stars. In the 3 (almost 4 years) since I wrote my original review, I have come to appreciate this book much, much more. I now have a 3 and 6 yo. When we talk about manners, I get this book out and reread it. It works every time. How could I have doubted Mo Willems! |
