5.0 out of 5 stars My son with apraxia loves this CD
This song is almost always in our car's cd player. My son who is 3 and has apraxia never sang before I purchased this CD. He loves the songs and the slower tempo allows him to sing along. He now is starting to sing along with his friends in class which he never had the confidence to do before. I would highly recommend this cd.

3.0 out of 5 stars loud instrumental/background music
The lyrics are sung slowly but the backround/instrumental music a bit too loud so it drowns the lyrics some of the time. The arrangements are also a bit more for adults--a bit too jazzy or intermittently loud for a child, when the enunciation of the lyrics should be the emphasis.

Would also be more appealing to a child if a child and NOT an adult would sing...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great CD for Kids with Speech Disorders, August 8, 2005
This review is from: Time to Sing! II (Audio CD)
These CD's were made specifically for children with apraxia and other speech disorders. I ordered "Time to Sing" and was very happy with it. I even enjoy listening to it.

I think "Time to Sing II" is even better because it's slower and the pronounciation is clearer. My 3 year old daughter, Zoe, and I really enjoy listening to and singing along with this CD. It has a jazzy sound that is appealing to both of us. It's also great for bedtime since the pleasant slow pace of the music is quite relaxing.

It is very important to have CD's like these for children with apraxia. Not often do we hear about "apraxia" but it can be a very frustrating condition for a child and others who try to discipher what the child is saying.

It's great fun for a speech disabled child to be able to learn to sing songs like other kids and it's especially valuable for their self-esteem. I highly recommend parents of a child with apraxia buy these CD's as part of their overall speech therapy program.

I will soon be buying the Christmas version of "Time to Sing".

5.0 out of 5 stars Real musicianship, at last!, April 1, 2008

This review is from: Time to Sing! II (Audio CD)
My daughter has speech problems, and I've forked out money for far too many amateurish, unlistenable music CDs geared to kids with special needs. The "Time to Sing" CDs are a very welcome change. They feature real musicians who take on the artistic challenge of creating GOOD, slow interpretations of the songs. Some of them are hilarious. (After hearing this CD, you may never go back to the Sesame Street version of "Rubber Ducky" again.)

I agree with another reviewer -- "Time to Sing II" is just a bit better than "Time to Sing I". If you're going to buy just one, buy the second one.

I've heard that kids with sensory processing issues might have strong reactions, either positive or negative, to the slow tempos. This might explain the disparate reviews this CD has gotten.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great For Toddlers Too!, January 27, 2008
This review is from: Time to Sing! II (Audio CD)
As a special education teacher, I used this CD every day with my 3,4 and 5 year olds. For adults, it can be a little annoying to listen to because they sing extremely slow (which is the whole point). But for young children and children with special needs, it's a wonderful CD that they can actually sing along to! I would absolutely recommend this CD!

My 5, 3, and 1 year olds love this music and enjoy singing and dancing around the house to it. I like the jazzy beat that makes listening to 45 mintues of kids music festive : )

Would also be more appealing to a child if a child and NOT an adult would sing the songs...like the Wee Sing Mother Goose songs where every song is clearly sung by a child--this CDis what I would suggest instead. Even an adult will appreciate the pleasant-sounding arrangements of this particular Wee Sing CD....NOT so with the Time to Sing CD's

3.0 out of 5 stars Time to Sing II, July 22, 2009
This review is from: Time to Sing! II (Audio CD)
I purchased this cd to use with kids coming to my private speech pathology. It is good. It does have a very slow rate for each song which is ideal for kids with a language delay

5.0 out of 5 stars Mother of child with Apraxia of speech very happy., July 5, 2009
By
This review is from: Time to Sing! II (Audio CD)
I have two children, a 6 year old and a 3-1/2 year old. My littlest one has apraxia of speech. This album was recommended by the speech therapist. The singers voices are mostly quite good at a slow pace, most notes low enough for my alto voice to join in. There are a lot of songs, so we skip some that are slow. The background music is fun, which makes up for the slower lyrics, so that the music is entertaining. My clever 6 year old endures and enjoys the music enough, that we can play it for both in the car. My 3-1/2 year old has started singing more on his own while he plays, with the words articulated fully. We never bought the Time to Sing I. I am happy with the purchase, and should have gotten it earlier. We're in speech therapy a couple times a week. This cd makes speech practice more portable and fun.

1.0 out of 5 stars Please turn it off!, April 22, 2004
This review is from: Time to Sing! II (Audio CD)
My son has a speech disorder but he managed to say "Turn it off!". I guess it was helpful in that respect. The words are very choppy and unnatural sounding. I would not recommend this CD.
