It's Probably Going to be Famous,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Time Stops for No Mouse: A Hermux Tantamoq Adventure (Hermux Tantamoq Adventures) (Hardcover)
Like most of my favorites, I had no idea that this would be a good book. I just read it. By the time I was two pages into it, I knew that this wasn't going to be an ordinary book.Pretty much, the main story line goes like this: There is a city, called Pinchester, where the population consists of mice, rats, voles, chipmunks, squirrels...(you get the idea) and one of them is named Hermux Tantamoq. He is a watchmaker mouse and has a pretty much ordinary life, until one day, when Hermux is visited by Miss Perflinger, a young female mouse. She gives him a really torn up watch and her business card, which reads, "Ms. Linka Perflinger, Adventuress, Daredevil and Aviatrix, Bold Feats of Nerve and Verve, On Land and In the Air, Reasonable Rates, #3 Pickdorndle Lane, Pinchester." She tells him that the watch must keep perfect time. Even a second, she says, could mean the difference between life and death. That is the point where I couldn't stop reading, and read it (only stopping for homework, eating, etc) til the end. I was so sad that it ended that I had to get the sequel, which I am working on right now. I recommend the book for anyone 7 - adult. I loved it because of Michael Hoeye's touch. Some authors just give it their "touch" like Eva Ibbotson, Eoin Colfer, Roald Dahl, etc and Michael Hoeye fits right in.

I'm a teacher who discovered this book during my Christmas vacation last year. I fell in love with the characters and knew I had to share it with my students. (I teach 7th & 8th graders.) My kids and I read the story together and they LOVED it. The action is well-paced and makes you want to keep reading. If you are a teacher, I highly recommend sharing this novel with your kids. And if your students are younger--read it aloud to them! I had my kids design game boards based on the characters and the events in the book. Their projects were a huge success because they were so motivated by the interesting plot and characters. There are some fantastic twists and turns to keep the reader intrigued. The sequal to this book is due out this fall and my 7th graders are begging me to "let" us read it in 8th grade next year. I highly recommend this book for ALL ages! You won't be disappointed.

A great new book!,

Hermux Tantamoq is just your normal average everyday mouse. That is until the day Ms. Linka Perflinger comes rushing into his house, wanting her watch repaired ASAP. Hermux, sensing her worry and also being rather attracted to this young mouse, fixes it quickly and waits for her the next day to come it. Unfortunatly he never shows up. Days later a rather nasty looking rat comes up to his shop and askes for Ms. Perfllinger's watch. Hermux, being smart, refuses to give it to him and follows him to Ms. Perfllinger's house. WHen he get's there he's shocked to see what's going on. He finds himself drawn into a mystery so complex that he dosen't know who to trust or what to do. All he knows is he has to solve it quick before Ms. Perfllinger and possibly himself meets a dredful fate.I found this book to be very entertaining and funny. I've been a fan of all animal worlds since I first read the Redwall series and this book dose not dissapoint me. The mystery was exciting and hard to solve. There's a surprise near the end that I Never saw coming. If you're a fan of mystery, suspence, and worlds where animals take the place of humans, read this book! I would reccomend it to anyone. This is a book for everyone. There's also another book in the series coming out in September that I can't wait for. Happy Reading!

Time Stops For No Mouse,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Time Stops for No Mouse: A Hermux Tantamoq Adventure (Paperback)
This book Time Stops for no mouse is about a small mouse, Hermux Tantamoq is a watchmaker in the town of Pinchester. One day he has a new interesting customer named Linka Perflinger. Who walks in with a beautiful watch that is completely beaten up. Linka, .a spunky adventurer, wants the watch fixed by the next day. Hermux works all night fixing the watch, but in the morning Linka never comes back to get the watch. Hermux waits for days and still there is no sign of Linka. Hermux thinks that there is something wrong; he thinks maybe she is hurt. One of his good friends, Pup, discovers that Linka had just been researching the new youth formula made out of the moon plant and Tucka Mertslin a cosmetic dealer wants it and only Linka has the formula. The main characters in this story are Hermux and Linka. Some other characters are Dr.Mennus, Pup Schoonagliffen, Mirrin, Dr. Dandiffer, and, last but not least, Tucka Mertslin. My favorite character is Linka because she is so full of energy and she was an adventurer. I can't really relate to any of these characters but I wish I could relate to Linka because she has such a great personality. This book was one of the best books I have ever read. I think it is brilliant how the author thought of having a separate community that is just like our own, but rodents live in it. As I said, I really like this book and I wouldn't change anything about it. I would definitely recommend this book because it is adventurous, fun ,suspenseful and a great book!. I think almost anybody would like this book. It's a great book and I think everyone should read it.

You Gotta Read It!!!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Time Stops for No Mouse: A Hermux Tantamoq Adventure (Paperback)
Michael Hoeye is an outstandingly clever writer. The way he wrote "Time Stops for No Mouse" made me feel like it was a real adventure happening right now in 2002. It was soooooooo realistic, clever, hilarious and exciting that I could not put it down. Even my Mom liked it, and she's a tough critic. The author is so good at describing the characters that I felt like I knew them. It is CLEARLY one of the best books I have ever read! I can't wait to read the next one.

Delightful,
This review is from: Time Stops for No Mouse: A Hermux Tantamoq Adventure (Paperback)
There's something innately likeable about Hermux Tantamoq, the mouse hero of this imaginative new book. Similarly, there is something innately likeable about the book itself, with the good descriptions and intriguing plot. (Cosmetics queen seeks immortality? Why didn't *I* think of that?)I'd say the best term would be "everymouse," with unrequited love, pleasant thank-you notes to the world, a pet ladybug he calls Terfle (also the name of the publishing company), and a job repairing clocks. Not an exciting life, but neither is it an unpleasant one. The object of his affection is Linka Perflinger, a pilot who at one point comes in to have her watch repaired. She vanishes, and soon a rather repulsive rat comes in to pick up her watch. Hermux follows him to Linka's home, and soon realizes that she may have been kidnapped. A journal from the jungle of Teulabonari gives him a clue to where Linka may be, and he soon finds himself facing down a cosmetics monarch, a plastic surgeon, and an army of lab rats... It's hard not to like Hermux, the humble and mild-natured mouse who finds himself roped into becoming an amateur detective (for Linka's sake). His... zest isn't quite the word, "enjoyment" of life is a nice oasis in a massive number of sarcastic and/or world-weary heroes. His conversations with Terfle and thanks to the universe are really sweet. Fans of Harry Potter may enjoy the twisty, edge-of-your-seat storylines, while fans of Redwall may enjoy the intelligently-portrayed talking mice. A particularly nice touch is the names: rather than insulting our intelligence with fake "mouse-y" names, Hoeye creates unique names like "Hermux Tantamoq" or "Teulabonari" which add just the right note of fantasy. I am definitely anticipating the publication of the second Hermux book....

Are you looking for a great read aloud? This book is perfect! It has unique and interesting characters, a complex and challenging plot and plenty of suspense and humor. My class of middle school students loved it. We made Tucka Mertslin hats and daily predictions of what would happen next. Get this book before your students do and keep them on the edge of their seats.

Exciting New Fantasy/Mystery Series for Middle Readers,
By
This review is from: Time Stops for No Mouse (Hermux Tantamoq Adventures) (Mass Market Paperback)
Hermux Tantamoq is a normal mouse, with a not-so-normal mouse job, for he is a watchmaker, who spends his days working inside his watch shop, and spends his night cuddling at home with his loving pet ladybug, Terfle. It's not a surprise, that as a watchmaker, Hermux rarely experiences any excitement. That is, of course, until Linka Perflinger, an adventuress, visits Hermux one day, and asks him to fix her extremely broken watch, and quickly captures Hermux's heart. However, things become quite strange when a rat tries to claim Linka's watch, and Hermux becomes completely sure that something bad has happened. Now, Hermux is entangled with a crazy cosmetics tycoon, a clan of vicious lab rats, and a sinister plastic surgeon, and he's quickly realizing that the truth is, time stops for no mouse, even when he's a watchmaker. In this first novel about Hermux Tantamoq, author Michael Hoeye introduces us to a wonderfully brave, and intelligent mouse, who turns a quest for love into a mystery involving kidnapping, and eccentricity. Hoeye has created a lovely new book series that will capture the hearts of animal lovers the world over. I am now extremely excited about reading the next book in the series, THE SANDS OF TIME, as I am ready for another dose of Tantamoq. Watchmaker or Dectective?,
By A Customer
This review is from: Time Stops for No Mouse: A Hermux Tantamoq Adventure (Paperback)
Hermux Tamoque is a quiet old mouse/watchmaker. Some of his neighbors annoy him, like Tucka Mertson, but he loves his life any way. One day, an adventuress named Linka Perflinger asks Hermux to fix her watch and have it done by the next day. He fell in love with her when he saw her. Hermux fixed the watch perfectly, but Linka never came to pick it up. Soon a rat came and demanded Linka's watch. Hermux didn't give it two him, instead he followed him. He eventually came to Linka's house. He saw Linka taken out of her house and forsed into a car. After that Hermux started to become a detective. He found out that some people are not what they seem. The book has a surprising ending. Time stops for no mouse is one of the best books I have read in a long time. It was terrific!
