4.0 out of 5 stars Sad love story with happy ending
I think because the flood was real the author wraps you further in her story line. I enjoyed reading this for the hisorical significance as well as the love story. Again another book I read several years ago and wanted to read again. Thanks Amazon

3.0 out of 5 stars Dated Material and A Wishy Washy Heroine Cause the Story to Suffer, November 7, 2011

TIME STORM takes you on a visit to an area of PA that was plagued by a vicious flood that happened in 1889. Rosalyn Alsobrook's history of the area is inserted into the plot to make for an interesting read.

Dr. JoAnn Griffin lost her parents just two weeks before she stumbles on a portal that takes her back in time. It was hard for me to empathize with her character for several reasons. She was suppose to be depressed over her parents' deaths that just happened, yet she managed well for the most part once she went back in time. When her character was weak it was while she acted her part of the doctor in the 1800's. I thought her experience working in an ER and her education should have made for a stronger individual.

The author dates the material when she mentions 'Jarrod Barkley' from the Big Valley, Mel Gibson and Keven Costner. She probably lost a few potential readers that are in their 20's and 30's now because of this.

Perhaps because JoAnn went back and forth between the past and present more than once also didn't help matters. And mentioning several times instead of just once about her sleeze-bag former boyfriend was too much. I found it hard to believe that Adam, the man she fell in love with in the past, would want to marry her when she waffled on so many issues.

The positive part was the history. It caused me to research the Johnstown flood to learn more. I found out that it was the first major disaster relief effort handled by the new American Red Cross, led by Clara Barton. If you like time-travel romances, IMHO it is middle-of-the-road. I have read many books from this genre that have been both better and worse.

5.0 out of 5 stars Time Storm is on my "Top 10" list of best books., November 7, 1997
This review is from: Time Storm (Pinnacle Historical Romance) (Paperback)
I love time travel and history at the same time. This is such a good example of both. I was drawn into the history of her story. I even did more research on the flood after reading her book. In time travel, it always adds more interest when they go back and forth from the future. The items that become important to them (that they take back with them to the past) is always interesting.
