5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most important works I have ever read!
I was given Nancy's book a few years ago by a good friend, and immediately upon reading it, I knew it would change my life. Since then, its value has continued to soar in my work and my life.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most important works I have ever read!, July 20, 2006
This review is from: Time to Think : Listening to Ignite the Human Mind (Paperback)
I was given Nancy's book a few years ago by a good friend, and immediately upon reading it, I knew it would change my life. Since then, its value has continued to soar in my work and my life.
I'm an attorney and CFP, and I teach financial advisors and attorneys how to work with their clients as whole people, not just a pile of assets or a set of legal issues. Time to Think is required reading in all our programs at SunBridge, and has done more than any other thing I've given my professional colleagues to help them learn how to find the best answers for their clients--by listening with resspect and attention, and creating an environment in which the clients can do their best thinking.
My recommendation is that while you're ordering a copy for yourself, you order a few extras, because you're going to want to give a copy to all your friends, it's that good. This is absolutely a must read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Time to Think by Nancy Kline, March 23, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Time to Think : Listening to Ignite the Human Mind (Paperback)
I was part of a group who used Kline's method; the Listening Environment. I ordered the book that day. I'm an Alzhiemer coach and felt it would benefit my listening to those with Alzheimer's. It does. The book is clearly written and with compassion. I would recommend this book for anyone seeking to improve relationship with their family member, friend or professional partner/client.

A friend of mine shared this book with me and I've bought and gifted ten more as the points in this book are invaluable to anyone in business. The principles outlined by Ms. Kline are powerful and the suggestions she gives for putting the principles to work are easy to implement and immediately effective. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book on LISTENING, October 31, 2011
This review is from: Time to Think : Listening to Ignite the Human Mind (Paperback)
This is the best book on listening I have ever read. Taking Nancy's coaching to just learn to listen longer has made a positve difference in my coaching and management of direct reports. Also, "knowing you will have your turn" to speak really does improve the quality of everyone's listening in meetings. I have been recommending this book to friends and colleagues since I first read it in 1998. Having read it recently again I can attest to it's profound revelance today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Time to Pay Attention to What People Say, September 19, 2006

This review is from: Time to Think : Listening to Ignite the Human Mind (Paperback)
I have read quite a few books looking for ways to unlock the thinking of business owners and their employees to improve a company. Nancy's book has far more in it than simple business advice. I would tag Nancy's book as one that provides a tool that allows a company to change its culture simply and effectively, provided most officials buy-in. Best of all, what she recommends is the right thing to do if you choose to live your life respecting other people. Her chapter titled "Attention" is a barn-burner. It is a powerful universal life lesson.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Book, September 6, 2006
This review is from: Time to Think : Listening to Ignite the Human Mind (Paperback)
Time to Think outlines a powerful process of unlocking the knowledge and wisdom within the recesses of our minds. If your brain is the ultimate computer, Time to Think is like adding three times the RAM you're currently using. Every time I've used it or watched the process in action, I've witnessed great increases in thought clarity in even the brightest people. It is truly amazing. I recommend this book to everyone.

Some books are best read in front of a bottle of scotch. As with many conversations liquid refreshment adds the delusion of poignancy and clarity. I must be getting cynical in my old age or maybe I have been in the consultancy business a little too long, but I am getting fed up with books that dress themselves up in pseudo spiritual jargon in order to sell extended power-point presentations. This is not so much a book but a day course for front-line staff in housing or youth projects who need soft protection against difficult clients. In short a typical money spinner and an advert for Nancy Kline's company in book form. Pleasantly written but pretentious and unoriginal.
