5.0 out of 5 stars Third Day comes of age
I can start by saying that this is one of the best CD's I have ever owned, Christian or secular. As Third Day comes to the point of recognizing their southern roots they will only get better in my opinion. The third installment "Time" creeps closer to that southern tradition. The upbeat little diddy "Don't Say Goodbye" has southern all over it...

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointment
Third Day really changed the world of Christian music with their first album. The second album blew the first one away. This album was a big disappointment. I am afraid the guys are getting away from their style.

5.0 out of 5 stars Third Day comes of age, March 27, 2000
This review is from: Time (Audio CD)
I can start by saying that this is one of the best CD's I have ever owned, Christian or secular. As Third Day comes to the point of recognizing their southern roots they will only get better in my opinion. The third installment "Time" creeps closer to that southern tradition. The upbeat little diddy "Don't Say Goodbye" has southern all over it and the bluesy ballad "Can't Take the Pain", really hits the roots. Combine these with the traditional pounding rock tunes "Believe", "Took My Place", and "Never Bow Down", you have a GREAT "Rock" album that spreads the WORD of JESUS very, very well. What also makes Third Day great is the fact that they are content to let the music as well as the words shine through. So many christian artist concentrate completely on the message, that they loose the music. I commend Third Day for being able to do both. Bottom line, Christian or not, you will enjoy this album. Real fans also want to get a copy of a 4 song CD "Southern Tracks". Visit Third Day's web site for details.

5.0 out of 5 stars um, Wow!, November 27, 1999

Okay, after hearing the Conspiracy #5 album, and slavering over nearly every wonderful track, I have to admit that I was left leaning forward during my first listen to this album. I wanted the banging, relentless sounds of "Gomer's Theme" in there somewhere. However, as I listened to it again (and again) this album grew, not on me, but in me. One of the best bands ever, and you can flame away on me for saying it. I would have paid full admission for "Give" alone. Plus the absolute rock-solid Christian message, and it's still catchy! Whooda thunkit? Simply put, this album is a gem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Third Day's talent is finally being recognized, May 4, 2000
This review is from: Time (Audio CD)
I liked their first CD (Third Day) much better than their second (Conspiracy), but I certainly did not regret getting the third (Time), because this has turned out to be the best, in my opinion. If you did not like Conspiracy, don't you dare let that keep you from getting this one.

"I've Always Loved You" is so great that this song by itself made the CD worth buying. This is the only Third Day song that I seem to hear on the radio, but hopefully this will attract people to realize how great the rest of their songs are. Soon, Third Day's talent will be recognized. They have come a long way since they performed at Cornerstone several years back.

"Your Love Oh Lord" is a great worship song... and yet, the lead singer's voice maintains his awesome deep and strong voice in it, especially when he sings "like the mighty mountain!"

"Believe" is a pretty hard song, but perhaps not quite as hard as "Consuming Fire" from their first.

"Can't Take the Pain" is a great song about Peter. ("Thief" from their first album was a great song about the thief who died on the cross next to Jesus.)

All the songs are great... and the music gets better and better the more you listen to it, not the other way around. This is by far their best yet. I hope my review has been helpful!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as their first, but still very awesome, May 25, 2000
This review is from: Time (Audio CD)
Well, I guess compared with their first CD, their S/T CD, I'd give this 4 stars because I still think the S/T CD was definitely the best. Still, Third Day's latest effort is clearly worthy of all five stars. The sound is clearly Third Day but it has a different feel than their previous efforts. It feels more epic and bigger than the other 2 albums.

As others have said, yes, I've Always Loved You is awesome enough that it's worth getting the CD for just that song. But the rest of the album is still very solid. Your Love, Oh Lord is beautiful and worshipful- it's my second favorite. Although I'm not completely in love with every song on the album, there isn't a weak song on here. No song sounds like filler.

In the end, it's pointless to compare this album to their classic S/T album, since this album sounds quite different and is very strong on its own. You won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid, December 10, 2000

This review is from: Time (Audio CD)
In Time, Third Day continues its tradition of releasing quality, God-centered music. Anyone who has listened to Third Day before knows that their actual music is so amazing that it would be great in an instrumental-only release. However, add to that the deep, often Scripture-inspired lyrics and you get Third Day.

This release is no different. In my opinion, this is by far their best album. There is a good mix of fast and slow songs with the core message being the same throughout - seek God and Christ.

My favorite track on the CD is "What Good". This track emphasizes that it does man (and woman, to be politically correct) no good to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul (Luke 9). Another Scripture inspired track worth mentioning is "Your Love Oh Lord" (Psalm 36) which is also phenomenal. Actually, now that I'm writing this, nearly every track on this CD is amazing. As another reviewer mentioned, there are no songs on this album that are "filler songs". And, in my opinion, that's the way it ought to be if you are representing God. There should never be "filler" songs, time, or anything else.

So the question...should you spend your money to get this album? Without a doubt I recommend it! Spend your money and enjoy this album. Peace. ~Andy

5.0 out of 5 stars A true masterpiece., July 15, 2004
This review is from: Time (Audio CD)
Of the 5 regular studio albums released by Third Day, "Time" is probably my overall favorite. 3D returned to their musical roots, and lyrically they also managed to deliver some of their most powerful songs to date. There are no filler tracks here--everything on this CD is great. My overall favorite song is "What Good," which addresses the question "what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his very soul?" Other favorites include "Took My Place," "Your Love, Oh Lord," "I've Always Loved You," "Give," "Can't Take the Pain" (voicing Peter's guilt and remorse after denying Jesus and running away) and the rapture-themed "Sky Falls Down." "Time" is a great album from Third Day, it ranks as one of my favorites, just behind the "Offerings" releases.

5.0 out of 5 stars listen to the whole thing, January 12, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Time (Audio CD)
third day went a slightly different direction with this one (which they kind of continued with offerings) after two hard rocking albums they toned it down a bit with this one. Third Days 1st showed their talent, but was really more of a collection of songs that kinda showed off their various abilities. Not much of a theme but it made for a great listen. Conspiracy was a little more thematic, but often came off as angry and I wasn't exactly sure what they were trying to say with some of the songs. (mind you i don't mean to knock either album, both made for a great listen) Time however, really comes off great as a whole. There aren't really any standout songs, but the whole album just flows real well and there are no weak songs. Lyrically, they've gone past the preachiness that accompanied their earlier works and really hit on a different them and a different level. Now, if you're looking for another hit rocker along the lines of "Consuming Fire" or "Alien" you won't find it, nor will you find any one song as beautiful as "Love Song." You will however find an album that really comes together as a whole and delivers a tremendous message. i hope that more Christian artists will produce work of this quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Back to their southern rock roots, February 14, 2005
This review is from: Time (Audio CD)
Third Day returns to their southern rock roots after their second album had more a mainstream rock style. The most popular songs from this cd are "I've always loved you", "Your Love Oh Lord", and "Sky Falls Down". I read the review when this cd came out and was very nervous to buy it as the critics loved it. As I'm sure most everyone already knows the critics are wrong a majority of the time. This is the exception to the rule, however! You can feel comfortable buying this album knowing that you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awe-Inspiring, Brave Masterpiece, January 14, 2000

Christian artists are often known for playing it too safe. These guys can not be accused of that musically or lyrically. Third Day plays with so much passion that this CD gets better every time I listen to it. Their faith doesn't just shine through... it explodes through. Songs like the beautiful "I've Always Loved You" are celebrations of God's love for us, and that song is especially brave for being in the FIRST PERSON! "Miracles and signs and wonders... Aren't enough for me to prove to you... Don't you know I've Always loved you... even before there was time?" Absolutely stunning. I can't imagine anyone getting through "Took My Place" without rocking out and playing some air guitar. Same goes for the powerful "Never Bow Down." Another stunner, "Can't Take the Pain," a ballad about a man who is overwhelmed with regret for having turning away from God, is filled with a sincerity that is rare in any kind of music. I was thrilled to hear that "Believe" is getting airplay on mainstream rock stations. Third Day is a band that deserves that kind of attention, and "TIME" may be the strongest hope since dc Talk's "JESUS FREAK" for a Christian rock band to explode onto mainstream radio and bring new fans to Christian music.

4.0 out of 5 stars Third Day--Three in a row!, December 11, 1999

This is a very cool album..."I've Always Loved You" is just absolutely amazing lyrically. It really gives you a great persepective on the Love that Jesus has waiting for all those who will except Him. "Sky Falls Sown" is just a flat-out rocker in traditional 3D fashion! Pick up this album...I saw them in concert just a few months ago and was blown away by the performances of the songs on 'Time.' Thanks and God Bless!
