Just 2 beeps, but if you are going to use it for kids with special needs, I would not count on kids hearing those beeps.

Yes, the timer is able to stand on counter unassisted. Two "feet" at the bottom of the clock stabilize it to stand up.

No, it only goes up to 60 minutes.

The timer is started byy an on/off switch in the back. The only way to "pause" the time allotted, would be to turn the clock off and then turn it on again to resume.

It is actually a 7.25" square clock.

I like it because it because it is not so obvious on a student's desk.

Good question. While it's counting down, it does not tick. When it isn't being used, it does make a small tick every second, but you can't hear it unless you're sitting right next to it. Once you turn it on it's completely silent.

The 8" timer uses one AA battery.

less than 1 min can be seen. It would be a guess as to how many seconds. It's a great clock.

Yes, it has an indention towards the top to be mounted on the wall with a nail or other picture hanger.
