Editorial Reviews

Beautiful  For those of you umm-ing and ahh-ing about buying this book - just do it! Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

I must admit, having read the Lorne Simpkins thriller novels, I was unsure about reading A Time to Heal, (most authors are not able to switch between genres!) but I feel Mel Comley pulled it off nicely! I read this book in 2 hours and was hooked from the first page!

This novella is beautifully written (I didn't come across any spelling mistakes, a huge sucess for any ebook!), and the characters are very believable. Chloe was very lovable; I found myself laughing and crying at different parts of the book. I highly recommend this book. Miss K.Jenkins

5.0 out of 5 stars Gritty and Real - LOVED IT! October 14, 2011
By Morgan
Format:Kindle Edition
What I really liked about this romance novel, is it feels so real. So often you pick up a romance and it's so far fetched and distorted from reality, that you end up rolling your eyes to yourself quite a lot. (This is NOT one of those romances)

It starts off with action, and the pilot of an airliner is broken enough to end up in Chloe's path. But wow, what a cool ride. I loved the fact that he freaks out the minute his eyes open, and he's yelling as if she's the grim reaper masquerading as the tooth fairy (LOVED IT!)

And then it just gets more and more complicated. People get hurt, friends flounce off, she loses her job, how bad can it get - oh MUCH worse - enter THE EX (plays horror movie music).

You know the EX! She's the bitch from hell, who only wants what you want because you want it. And wow, this cow really sticks it to her again and again.

And yeah, when men get stuck in the middle - they always mess up - without fail.

So of course - it was an excellent and riveting read. I am telling you now - this is no ordinary romance novel. This lady has INDEPENDENCE tattooed in her heart and mind and doesn't go down without at least smacking back. She's so real, so believable, and a main character you can just adore.

Loved it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Slow moving storyline June 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This story is about a pilot, Steve, who crash lands his plane while arriving in England. He is in critical condition and is hospitalized. Chloe, the heroine, works as a crisis worker of sorts. She is assigned by her boss to help Steve recover. Somewhere along the way Steve wakes up and brief dialogue, that is not romantic in the slightest, occurs between the two lead characters. The characters are stiff and dull. I never did see any type of romantic connection develop between the two yet we are supposed to believe Chloe is falling in love.

The story moves along painfully slow and honestly had me quite bored before reaching the 50% mark on my Kindle. Even though this is a relatively short book it just dragged in parts. I literally skipped pages trying to find something interesting.

Chloe's job is to follow Steve back to America, where he lives, to finish her work in aiding in his recovery. I tried my best, but I never could figure out exactly why Chloe was useful to or needed by Steve. All Chloe ever does is sit in a chair by his bed or talk to him. One time she did get him food. That was it, dull.

Even though the hero and his daughter Millie, we meet her later in the story, are both Americans they speak in British phrases quite often. I wonder if the author is aware of the difference in British dialect versus American English dialect. I've never heard an American teenager tell her father to "leave it out" or a father respond with "you cheeky so and so." The language in the book just didn't work. Maybe if the story happened completely in England or territories similar where such phrases are used it would have worked better.

The story also felt old. By that I mean it felt like it might have occurred back in the 1980s.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just so-so for me. January 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I never felt the love connection to these two main characters at all. Besides that...the story moves along painfully slow and honestly had me quite bored before reaching the 50% mark on my Kindle. There were times I just wanted to give up on the story altogether, but I very rarely do that. And even though this is a relatively short book it just dragged on and on in several different parts of the story. I literally skipped pages trying to find something interesting to peak my interest. His ex-wife was one of those interesting moments, although she was a total B**ch.

Would I recommend this book? No.

4.0 out of 5 stars A nice romantic story July 8, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
A gentle romance story, which I'm sure the lovers of the genre will like. I'm not really one of them, which is probably why to me, the highlight in this story was the ex-wife getting involved! I do like a good b!tch, and nothing is as bad as a woman who had it all and who's realised that she's lost it all and is desperately clutching at straws with the tip of over-manicured stiletto nails! Bit of a change from the "they fell in love and everything was perfect and they lived happily ever after," obviously an angry ex definitely brings a bit of zing in a relationship !

The book was just ok, I found myself skipping ahead( which I never do) just to finish it. The end was cheesy , not a book I would tell a friend to read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Between two worlds March 19, 2013

THE book was great for a quick read. CHARACTERS were believable and the pool scene was an added bonus as I believe it to be much more interesting that just a verbal spat would have been.

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The characters in this book feel so real...they're like friends or neighbors or co-workers. I cared about these people. I could easily see the situation happening in real life. Very well done! I would recommend this to any romance reader.
