This review is from: By the Time We Got to Woodstock: The Great Rock 'n' Roll Revolution of 1969 (Paperback)
BY THE TIME WE GOT TO WOODSTOCK: The Great Rock `n Roll Revolution of 1969, by Bruce Pollock (348 pgs., 2009). I began reading this book because I thought it would fill in some forgotten gaps in my memory about Woodstock. I had attended the original (& real) Woodstock Festival from Thursday until Monday. The Festival itself ran on Friday, Saturday & Sunday. While this book did fill in some gaps, the title is misleading. It's more like a historical analysis of rock `n roll & society during the 1960s. It's primary focus is from November 1968 through June 1970. However, it encompasses many more years. The pages are laden with music facts. The narrative is not free flowing. This book is tough to get through. Additionally, the author's sometime historical revision rubbed me the wrong way. The cover art is great, but this book promised more than it delivered.
