Upbeat pop reggae,
By Comment Man "Comment Man" (Omaha, Ne) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Time Will Tell (Audio CD)
In the late 60s and early 70s Jamaican music explored a number of ways forward--this is before the triumph of roots reggae under the Abyssinians and the Wailers and Spear and all those people you love so well you silly you--and one that was discarded was a pop reggae sound, upbeat and bubbly, and very much a cheerful music--there was actually a lot of it floating around and frankly much of it is, well....vapid and not very interesting. This is a very exciting CD since except for the great Desmond Dekker it is some of the best pop reggae I have ever heard--it is fun happy music by a wonderful singer.
So why haven't you bought it already?

Not So Small Millie,
This review is from: Time Will Tell (Audio CD)
I purchased this album purely because of the unique sound that Millie has with the early 60's sound of my boy lollipop which was and still is one of my favourite songs of the 60's, so when I heard of this album which has early 70's and some rare 60's cuts I just had to have it, the songs featured are a must for trojan lovers of the era, right from the start to the end the songs are unique and refreshing from what Millie has given us previously, so put your hand in your wallet and buy this album with the extra tracks as you will not be dissapointed, 5 out of 5 *****
