5.0 out of 5 stars Eyepopping Hand Drawn Ancient foldout history timeline
This is a gorgeous document. Prior to the Millenium version, I had once before seen this chart about 16 feet long on a wall. It rolled up, when it came down off the wall, which would have been the only way to store it.

This version is beautifully folded into book form. It unfolds into the long chart, but then gracefully folds back up into the book cover...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice, but a bit too much of a Christian focus -- is it factual or ideological?
This is a beautiful book, that is a timeline chart based on an extension of a very old Victorian chart. With that being said I fully understand why the emphasis is on the Bible and Christianity, HOWEVER, I wish that other religions (Islam, Hindu, etc) were included. As a scientist myself, I am very interested in listening to all viewpoints and historical facts if...

5.0 out of 5 stars Eyepopping Hand Drawn Ancient foldout history timeline, July 5, 2006
This review is from: Timechart History of the World (Hardcover)
This is a gorgeous document. Prior to the Millenium version, I had once before seen this chart about 16 feet long on a wall. It rolled up, when it came down off the wall, which would have been the only way to store it.

This version is beautifully folded into book form. It unfolds into the long chart, but then gracefully folds back up into the book cover.

The top time line is all or most of the people and events in the Bible. Beneath that are the lineages of major dynasties, beginning with the Tower of Babel: Phoenicia (or Canaan); Egypt; Chaleaea; Greece, and China, and branching to include, or entering new countries as they form throughout history, up through the year 2000.

Hundreds of tiny, detailed pictures in what I'd call "ancient earth colors," which would probably have been formed of natural dyes, abound.

The art seems very old. It was actually drawn in 1890, but in an antiquated style. See to appreciate.

I love mine! A great way to learn history!

5.0 out of 5 stars History Timeline, December 23, 2007
This review is from: Timechart History of the World (Hardcover)
As a World History teacher this is an awesome resource for my classroom!!I actually purchased two of these books and cut the timeline out of both. I had them both laminated and I hung them in my classroom. One side is an amazing timeline of world history which I love because you can see at any given date what is going on all over the world... not just in Europe or America. The other side has the major countries in Europe and their Absolute monarch's family trees. I was so excited when I found this book because it's absolutely what I was looking for! I have other posters in my room- but this stays up all year and is a useful tool all year!!

5.0 out of 5 stars 6000 Years of History, June 8, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Timechart History of the World (Hardcover)
This chart is an incredibly detailed timeline of world history covering 6000 years. At the top are the years and as you look down the chart you are able to see what was going on everywhere in the world at that time.

It is a great way to put an event into context with the rest of the world at that same time.

The chart is in color and printed on quality paper so it holds up to lots of use.

You could even remove it from its hard cover and put it up on a wall for easier viewing.

Highly recommend for seeing the big picture in history.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Look into the Past, July 21, 2010
I have seen original (or old copies of the original) 1800s timechart that this is based on. This is a close reproduction of that fascinating timeline. There are a couple versions and many editions floating around (see also Timechart of Biblical History). The chart is full of details and history that can b poured over for hours. The original panels are the hand drawn and colored. The new panels (20th Century) that have been added, try to match the color scheme, but are not as detail dense. While much of this reflects the knowledge of the time it was first drawn, it also shows that people in those times had a greater respect for history and antiquity. The dates prior to 2000BC are largely only biblical events, based on the old Ussher chronologies. We now know that just adding up the genealogies prior to Abraham just doesn't work. The Hebrews didn't record every generation in antiquity. The Genesis chapters prior to Abraham reach deep into prehistory and do give clues to where they fit in history (see The Genesis Question: Scientific Advances and the Accuracy of Genesis). This book/timechart is a great addition to students of history and the Bible (it's a lot cheaper on the discount shelf at the bookstore).

This is a flowchart of the kings and kingdoms of history for 6,000 years.

It shows the rise and fall of Rome and other kingdoms starting from Adam and Eve through the year 2000.

As a scientist myself, I am very interested in listening to all viewpoints and historical facts if possible. The book is still worth the purchase though since you can spend fruitful hours exploring the time chart.
