Best Adventure Game of it's Day, November 1, 2005
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

When I got this game in 1997, it was the best adventure game out there. Unfortunately GTE entertainment did a poor job marketing it and it was eventually sold to Barracuda Entertainment, which still sells it.
In the game you are the friend of an archaeologist who has discovered how ancient civilizations like the Egyptians, Mayans, and Anasazi had become so advanced . . . aliens had infused the top people of these societies with superior DNA. But your friend has gotten himself caught in a Time Gate and needs your help to get him out.
After walking through four worlds (you start out on Easter Island) you finally arrive in Atlantis and must make your way to one of several endings.
What makes this game unique, as opposed to the Myst series is the intriguing story line and interesting puzzles. It's graphics are also very good compared to the first Myst Game. Though you still move forward from scene to scene like in Myst, the graphics cover the entire screen and you get a panoramic view as you turn from side to side, mostly getting rid of the confusion of turning that comes with these kinds of adventures.
Two other things make this game good: the journal entries you find in each world are not only occasionally clues to solving puzzles, but they also describe in detail both what each world is like and the interesting theories your archaeologist friend has come up with in the process of his exploration. Secondly, you get to take pictures with a camera in this game (if you pick up the camera your friend left on Easter Island). This can help you take note of clues for future use . . . but beware, use your film wisely. You only have 36 exposures.
All in all, I recommend this game highly.

INCONCEIVABLE!!, September 2, 2009

Inconceiveable is the word. If you think you are a seasoned adventure gamer, and can solve puzzles with the best of them, then this game is for you. Make it through the Easter Islands. Enter Egypt. Find out what real puzzling is all about. It's not about the dialogue, or the inventory items, it's about the interaction with your environment, being observative, and intelligent. The average joe will get no where in this game. Sorry but it's true. You have to be a puzzling lion to solve these puzzles. Good luck, may the force be with you.
