5.0 out of 5 stars Fun to reminisce with Michael Bolton
I enjoyed this CD very much.......at first, when I heard that MB's new album was one of remakes, I was somewhat disappointed. As a longtime Michael Bolton fan, I was looking forward to his own material (which I've always loved!) Well..........just like his first CD of remakes "Timeless...The Classics".......I fell in love with "Timeless Vol. 2"...

3.0 out of 5 stars Getting Better at Choosing Covers...
Thank God this new studio covers album by Michael is not as disappointing as the one he first recorded back in 1991.
May be that the tunes are fresher, may be that Phil Ramone is the guy behind the production...point is this time the album is enjoyable.
LET'S STAY TOGETHER is even better than Tina Turner's cover (great sax job by Dave Koz...).

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun to reminisce with Michael Bolton, November 21, 1999
This review is from: Timeless: The Classics 2 (Audio CD)
I enjoyed this CD very much.......at first, when I heard that MB's new album was one of remakes, I was somewhat disappointed. As a longtime Michael Bolton fan, I was looking forward to his own material (which I've always loved!) Well..........just like his first CD of remakes "Timeless...The Classics".......I fell in love with "Timeless Vol. 2". I loved going back to the years when I enjoyed these very same songs knowing that Mr. Bolton was admiring them during those years. And to hear him sing them added a refreshing sound to them. For example: I used to HATE "Like A Rolling Stone" by Dylan because I couldn't understand a damned word of it! I've found out that all of these years later, I really do like the song.......! thanks to Michael Bolton. My favorite on the CD is "Whiter Shade of Pale." It's a CD worth buying and listening to, especially if you were a teen in the 60's! Michael has an amazing voice!

5.0 out of 5 stars WELL DONE CD, November 23, 1999
This review is from: Timeless: The Classics 2 (Audio CD)
Mr Bolton did a wonderful job on this cd. My girl has been a favorite of mine for a long time so it was great hearing redone by Michael. It is very hard to find a cd that you love more then one song on it, but all of these songs are well done. If you are a Bolton fan or just love these kinds of songs. This cd is a must for your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly masterful rendition of some great ,classic tunes, November 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Timeless: The Classics 2 (Audio CD)
Classics hold a special place in our hearts. One can only hope any remakes of a favorite tune can do justice to a song. And Michael Bolton does a masterfully superb job or remaking 11 tunes many of us grew up listening to. The first cut from this album, Sexual Healing, is a beautiful remake in tribute to the late Marvin Gaye. My personal favorite is a remake of a song I could not appreciate for the life of me in its original release- Bob Dylan's Like A Rolling Stone. When Dylan sang it, you couldn't understand the lyrics. Michael's version is so crisp, and the musical arrangement automatically makes you want to get up to work out, jog or break into the electric slide. Other tunes such as Lets Stay Together, My Girl, What a Wonderful World and Whiter Shade of Pale make this a MUST buy for any music lover.

5.0 out of 5 stars You'll Melt!, November 30, 1999
This review is from: Timeless: The Classics 2 (Audio CD)
These songs and Bolton's voice are a terrific combination. If there is a woman anywhere who doesn't melt at Michael's rendition of Try A Little Tenderness, honey, you've got ice water in your veins.

I have been a Michael Botlon fan for the past eight years now. I have every one of Michaels CD's and I must say that this was a rare treat. Timeless The Classics Vol. 2 is fast becoming one of my all time favorites. Michaels voice on this CD is just so great. His choices are some of my old favorites. "Aint No Sunshine" is just wonderful. His voice is so mellow and smooth. This is a must have for anyone that loves Michael and his music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste time reading biased reviews, listen for yourself, November 19, 1999
This review is from: Timeless: The Classics 2 (Audio CD)
As usual, Michael Bolton's effort receives harsh criticism from the so-called "experts" (what they are actually experts on is still a mystery)..HOWEVER, as one who GREW UP listening to and enjoying the ORIGINALS, all I can say is that this is a WONDERFUL tribute. Bolton is meticulous and knows how to do these songs justice. "Try a Little Tenderness" is a stirring version of the original, and if this one doesn't move you, go out in the yard, dig a 6ft. hole and climb in---YOU ARE ALREADY DEAD. As far as singing soul--THE ORIGINAL ARTISTS THEMSELVES SAY IT BEST---AND THEY AGREE HE IS QUALIFIED TO SING WHATEVER, WHENEVER--the man can SING. I have had enough of the bashing and belittling--a voice like this comes along once in a millenium, so I say to the critics--look in Websters! Soul; the quality that arouses emotion and sentiment, a person's TOTAL self. I feel that he puts his total self in the songs he ENJOYS to sing--and know it arouses emotion and sentiment in ME, so As far as I am concerned, this is good SOUL music. Listen for yourself, you may like it. Ray Charles, Mrs. Otis Redding, Bob Dylan, & Percy Sledge (the ORIGINALS) seem more than content to listen to him sing, and in fact have written, played/sang with Mr. Bolton themselves, so unless we are to tell them they wouldn't know soul if they were locked in a closet with it all day, we should not tell Mr. Bolton to stop singing what he loves to sing. So check it out -- it is well worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth, November 21, 1999
This review is from: Timeless: The Classics 2 (Audio CD)
First of all, I don't mind admitting, I'm a major fan. If I weren't, I wouldn't be looking for Michael Bolton titles on this website. I was, however, somewhat anxious about Michael going to the well twice, so to speak and releasing another album of cover tunes. After listening, however, I have to say that it must be nearly impossible not to get the itch to record tunes like this every so often when you're so DARN GOOD AT IT. There are so many textures to Mr. Bolton's voice in this CD that you can hit the continuous play button and listen over and over and still hear something new every time. Though I am not a fan of Whiter Shade of Pale of Dylan's, Like A Rolling Stone, I consider any album a huge success when I love 8 out of 10 tracks. As for the Al Green tunes...Michael was BORN to sing them. Try A Little Tenderness is a miracle..his voice is amazing. By the way, Mr San Francisco or whoever you are...the What A Wonderful World on this CD is NOT the Louis Armstrong song of the same name. It would really be helpful to review readers if the people reviewing them would listen to the CD in advance of posting their opinions. And speaking of What A Wonderful World, I wouldn't have thought I'd care to hear Mr. Bolton cover a song that I would term, bubble gum, but he has done a totally fun, original job with both the arrangement and the vocal. Hats off to Dave Koz for some terrific sax solos by the way. Buy this album...you'll still be loving it years from now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Michael Has Another Winner!, November 20, 1999
By
This review is from: Timeless: The Classics 2 (Audio CD)
Michael finds a way to take you back to your past with fantastic versions of the songs we all loved. Sexual Healing, originally done by one of Michael's idols, Marvin Gaye, takes the song to new heights. Michael's version of What a Wonderful World by Sam Cooke (not to be confused with What a Wonderful World by Gary Weiss and performed by Louis Armstrong and recently Kenny G)joins nostalgia with a fresh new flavor. We enjoyed all the songs on this album. Michael has a way of adding new life to these old classics with a mellow, blues sound. The addition of Dave Koz to several of the tracks was a treat. In our opinion, this album is going to be another million+ seller!
