4.0 out of 5 stars MICHAEL BOLTON DELIVERS...
I recently found this CD buried along with a pile of other old CDs which I had never played. Having read so many negative reviews about this Michael Bolton CD, I thought that I would see for myself what all the fuss was about. Well, it just goes to show you that one just can't believe everything that one hears.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that...

Who the hell gave this guy a record contract?!No singer this side of David Hasselhof has a worse voice. And hearing him desecrate the Bee Gees classic "To Love Somebody" moves me to tears for all the wrong reasons!

4.0 out of 5 stars MICHAEL BOLTON DELIVERS..., February 23, 2001
This review is from: Timeless: The Classics (Audio CD)
I recently found this CD buried along with a pile of other old CDs which I had never played. Having read so many negative reviews about this Michael Bolton CD, I thought that I would see for myself what all the fuss was about. Well, it just goes to show you that one just can't believe everything that one hears.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this is a pretty decent CD with a lot of great songs on it. The only jarring note was the track for "White Christmas" which just did not seem to fit with the rest of the songs on the album.

I think Michael Bolton is a pretty decent vocalist. When singing pulse pounding songs, such as "Hold On, I'm Coming" or "Bring It on Home to Me", he sounds like a mellower Tom Jones. When he sings ballads, such as "Yesterday", his somewhat scratchy vocalization is reminiscent of Rod Stewart. How bad can that be?

5.0 out of 5 stars A treat for the Boltheads, September 29, 2006
This review is from: Timeless: The Classics (Audio CD)
If you've never heard any of Bolton's work, I don't recommend this being the first thing you listen to by him. But if you enjoy his music, this album is great for the collection. "To Love Somebody" was the highlight of the album, and his rendition of "Drift Away" was magnificent. And all in between was great. Great for Boltheads, but I recommend getting introduced to his other work before nabbing this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars When Michael Bolton sings a song, it`s TIMELESS!, September 3, 2004

What a fantastic album! Michael Bolton`s voice is as gorgeous as the timeless songs he is singing. He has given fresh new lives to these songs.
"To Love Somebody", "Knock On Wood", "Bring It On Home To Me" are favorites of mine, but I love the others songs as well. A perfect choise for a wonderful singer!
This album is truly a classic and no one sings with more emotion than Michael Bolton!!!

"Drift away" is powerful in this new rendition. It's hard to get a voice Like Michael... Just for this song alone, I will buy this album... I am actually re-buying this album since I can't find my old one... and I will never ever find other performances that can top 'Hold On, I'm Coming" and "Konck On Wood." Pop songs don't get better than this.... guilty pleasures indeed!!! The best album from Michael Bolton....

4.0 out of 5 stars VERY GOOD ALBUM, October 24, 2004
This review is from: Timeless: The Classics (Audio CD)
Some time ago, I bought this album, having heard "To love somebody" on the radio. Just that song makes the whole album worthy. This album is not a masterpiece, of course, neither so bad as said. The best songs are: "Since I fell for you", "To love somebody", "Hold on, I'm coming" and "Drift away". Perhaps the only weak work on the album is "Yesterday". Overall, an album that deserves to be rediscovered, and I think it was too much underrated.
Finally, I must say that I liked much more this album than the volume II, which was rated higher...

5.0 out of 5 stars Timeless Classic Michael, October 28, 2003

When I first heard of this album, I imagined it would be a greatest hits collection. But it's actually a collection of covers for Michael Bolton. Michael goes easy listening with SINCE I FELL FOR YOU and Paul McCartney's classic YESTERDAY. Michael goes soul with HOLD ON I'M COMING and REACH OUT(I'LL BE THERE),with Michael receiving moral support from the Four Tops on the latter song which they originally recorded. Michael scored a hit with the Bee Gees' composition TO LOVE SOMEBODY. YOU SEND ME,BRING IT ON HOME TO ME,DRIFT AWAY and KNOCK ON WOOD are full of soul also. Michael pays a tribute to the late Irving Berlin with his Christmas classic WHITE CHRISTMAS.

5.0 out of 5 stars Romance at Home, May 8, 2001
This review is from: Timeless: The Classics (Audio CD)
This album is a favorite at our house. We like to make dinner, break out a bottle of wine, light the candles, and listen to this album with the volume up. All the songs are familiar old favorites and Boltons voice is rich.

Timeless: The Classics being a 1992 cover album by Bolton and was a massive hit for Bolton peaking at #1 the Billboard 200. It contains many great tracks such as "Reach Out I'll Be There", "Yesterday", and "To Love Somebody". The booklet has all the lyrics and we get a list after each track we get a list of whom plays what on the track. 4/5.
