5.0 out of 5 stars Another Masterpiece, December 27, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Timeless Crime (Audio CD)
Again Labyrinth has provided the world with another excellent work. The EP is definately worth the price of admission. The disk includes an acoustic version of "Falling Rain" that was previously only available on the Japanese import of "Return". The only thing that could be better would be a full length release!

(the other is in Sons Of Thunder) and have the new version of "In The Shade", wich was a music of the first Labyrinth album! YOU MUST HAVE THIS ONE! YOU MUST BUY!

4.0 out of 5 stars Neat little EP with a big surprise, January 2, 2009
This review is from: Timeless Crime (Audio CD)
The 1999 Timeless Crime EP from Italian progressive power metal masters Labyrinth is an interesting collection of material. The stop-gap EP features a mix of new material, rerecordings, alternate versions and a surprise cover song. Here's what you get:

1. Save Me - This new studio song was later used on 2000's Sons of Thunder, but in a rearranged form. I prefer the original version.
2. Out of Memory - This song was originally included on the band's 1995 demo Midnight Resistance, which I've not yet heard. It's a solid song, but I am curious as to what it sounded like with Fabio Leone on vocals.
3. In the Shade - This song was originally included on the band's debut album No Limits. The original is good, but this version is worlds better, thanks in large part to Roberto Tiranti's vocals.
4. Falling Rain - This is an acoustic version of the Return to Heaven Denied song. It's very tranquil and very pretty, and is enough to fool you into thinking the album is over when...
5. DIE FOR MY SINS!!! - This hidden track is a cover of the Sanctuary classic, and is reason enough for any serious metal fan to buy this EP. Domine's vocalist makes a guest appearance, and does justice to Warrell Dane's screaming vocal style. Pure thrashing adrenaline. My only complaint is that it is tacked on to "Falling Rain" instead of included as a separate track. Sometimes I just want to hear this song by itself. Oh well.

If you're not already a fan of Labyrinth, I'd recommend picking up their 1998 album Return to Heaven Denied and then grabbing this EP and Sons of Thunder. Their later albums are good as well, but the late 90's stuff is really essential. If you're already a Labyrinth fan and haven't picked up Timeless Crime, what are you waiting for?

5.0 out of 5 stars Music For Speeding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, April 29, 2007
This review is from: Timeless Crime (Audio CD)
Buy this five song EP just for the 1st two songs alone! Save Me (the original version), and Out Of Memory (a remake from the Labs' first demo) remind me of the type of music you would be listening to if you got on the interstate in a Lamboghini, and opened it up (Yngwie eats the dust of these songs)! These songs would fit perfectly on Return To Heaven Denied, this is how Power Metal should sound...fast as hell, crunchy, thrashy riffs, solos that melt your face off, killer double-bass-in-yer-face, some of the fastest keyboard work I have ever heard, and those awesome epic vocals by Rob Tyrant tops it all off. The other tracks are decent as well, another demo remake In The Shade, an acoustic version of Falling Rain, and a Sanctuary cover Die For My Sins featuring Morby from Domine, as a side note, he briefly filled in for Rob on the subsequent tour. They really did screw up Save Me on Sons Of Thunder...anyway, buy this hairy little EP or forever be tortured by Limp Biscuit!

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME, June 13, 2005
This review is from: Timeless Crime (Audio CD)
Labyrinth is the best powermetal band and the only good powermetal band besides old Helloween. This EP rules, you have the new version of In The Shade, which is off Labyrinth's first album No Limits,it's much better with Rob Tyrant singing, at the end of the song Rob Tyrant sings high(amazing). Then you have a bonus song on the album that's orginally by Sanctuary called Die For My Sins.Labyrinth does a great job on that song,Morby from Domine sings the song. After Falling Rain you have to wait about 20-30 seconds before Die For My Sins comes on. Save Me is a different version then the one on Sons Of Thunder, the one on Sons... has the guitar in the bigining where it's slow and then Save Me on this ep has the keyboards with the guitar and it's fast, you'll know what I'm talking if you have Sons Of Thunder. Falling Rain is the acoustic version on this,it's not the same one on RTHD.
Get this EP it rules.
