Alaina Sawyer's life is turned upside down by disturbing visions. Not only does she see people who aren't really there, she's seeing a woman who looks just like her, but dressed in late eighteenth-century clothing!

Back in the late eighteenth-century, Lady Alicia plots to leave her husband, Richard, Lord Saybrooke. Cuckolded many times over, he despairs of reconciliation or of any more heirs. After the birth of their son, Lady Alicia has refused any overture from her husband and has taken her pleasures elsewhere. Her plan is to leave Lord Saybrooke for good, and the mystic, Madam Reena, has just the ticket--Lady Alicia is to switch places with someone who looks just like her. The only trouble is, this other person lives 200 years in the future.

Madam Reena makes good on her promise and the adventures begin. Alaina tries to step into Lady Alicia's rather sordid shoes and reputation. All the while, she is trying not to let on that she isn't really Lady Alicia, and that the reputation assuredly doesn't fit.

Timeless Deceptions has an interesting premise, and the way the time travel is introduced is fresh and innovative. However, I found the story a slow read. The characters seemed interesting but rather bland and the interaction between them was stilted until near the end of the book. While the story in itself is interesting and well thought out, I expected more romance and action between the main characters. I look forward to seeing other works from this author, but this one just didn't have that special "spark" that I look for in time-travel romances.

TIMELESS DECEPTION is a very different and original time travel than any I've seen before. It's a creative endeavor that is a wonderful keeper. I love time travels and Regencies, and this book is a perfect blend of both genres. I drooled (!) over Richard, and I enjoyed rooting for Alaina as she tried to convince Richard that she was a "changed" person. I highly recommend this terrific example of Brit-lit: TIMELESS DECEPTION!

I was captured from the very first page...Alaina Sawyer is from modern New York city and quite educated but the book doesn't go into too much detail of her life there as things happen quickly. She begins having visions of another time (1816) and another woman who looks very much like her and is named Alicia. This, Alicia, hates her life as the wife of the handsome Earl of Saybrooke.. in fact, she hates him and her son and everyone knows it. To escape, Alicia pays a witch to help her escape by trading places with another. This person, of course, is Alaina who avoids men for reason we aren't really sure about, yet, on seeing the Earl she goes gaga. Alaina, plays the role of Alicia believing that if she told the Earl who she really was he'd send her to an Asylum or Jail. Well, things progress from there to an end that really did disappoint me. This book wasn't bad it just could have been better. This book was only 200 something pages and could have been embellished more. For example, a little more about Alaina's history and that ending....it left me wanting something...I would have loved the book if it wasn't for that.
