I purchased this book and held onto it for at least a year, always telling myself I'd start it "tomorrow." One day I was looking in the mirror and said, "That's it! I'm going to start today!" I did, and now my only regret is not beginning the program sooner! One thing that I was not expecting is to have changes occur in my personality due to these wonderful and simple facial exercises. I stopped procrastinating, my life became more filled with promise, and I have felt so much more alive. Not to mention it has done some very interesting and positive things to my sexual desires :)And for those of you that work out your body...you know how you feel after a workout...full of energy and high on life? That's how you feel after doing facial exercises, only BETTER because the face is so interconnected to your personality. wow! what a treat! I HIGHLY recommend this book. Thanks Ellae for sharing your incredibly ingenius exercises with the rest of us!!

This Program Is Helping Me,
By A Customer
This review is from: Timeless Face: 30 Days To A Younger You Through Face Reading, Acupressure, and Toning (Paperback)
I have alot of face exercise books but this one is different. The others all they said they would replace plastic surgery but they didn't. My skin was pretty thrashed from sun, age etc. and the surgery smoothed out the sags and lines I looked better and am happy I got the surgery but still my face didn't look quite right. The skin was smooth but my youthful muscles were gone. I tried this book and now I have soft and elastic muscle tone where I was sort of skinned before. I also notice I just feel better after I have done the full program and so I am just starting to try on some of the authors ideas about feeling better through the toning. It makes sense and I like the feeling of not being afraid of using my face but instead keeping the muscle tone elastic and healthy so I don't have to be scared of smiling to much and getting more lines. I guess I would say that I have a healthier more youthful face because of this book and I understand now how to have my face retain this over the years. I wish I had started this in my 30's I might have avoided my surgery for a longer time.

I value the Maggio book for it's precision but find the exercises confusing and tedious and so don't do them often. This book is more easy going but still fully details which muscles are being worked, offers more than one photo of the exercise and, if you're into it, lists the emotions causing those muscles to need to be rehabilitated.I do wish there was a picture detailing the accupressure point on the pages of instructions accompanying every exercise but a sticky bookmark makes it easy enough to flip to the graphic when necessary. And, the thought she gives to help explain the movements are excellent. For instance, the Expression given for the Eye Crunch is, "I'm not peeking!" and it really helps one 'get' the movement far better than any other explainations I've read. I've read that stretching the skin is to be avoided but no longer think this is cause for concern unless one is in the habit of wrecklessly distorting the face with one's hands for the mere fun of it. I notice on the instruction sheet for Frownies that one is required to stretch the skin in order to place them and many, many women have sworn by them for decades so it can't be a bad thing to *carefully* move to skin to rehabilitate it.

Excellent, helpful book - everyone can use it!,
This review is from: Timeless Face: 30 Days To A Younger You Through Face Reading, Acupressure, and Toning (Paperback)
This is SUCH an easy book to understand, and Ellae Elinwood is as beautiful as you could hope for in an author who writes on this topic. I'm just beginning to show signs of age, and already I am feeling dramatic improvements as a result of using these invaluable principles. Any woman or man who is interested in toning their body, looking better or even looking younger simply MUST buy this book and USE it! Great work, Ellae!

These exercises really work!,

This review is from: Timeless Face: 30 Days To A Younger You Through Face Reading, Acupressure, and Toning (Paperback)
Timeless Face is an exercise program that goes much deeper than just skin care. The exercises also help emotionally. I suffer from depression and found in the past nine months of regularly doing both the facial and acupressure techniques that I feel better afterwards. I feel less tension in my face.Just as exercise shapes and contours the body, exercise for the face can shape and contour the face. What happens when specific exercises are used for the face? The muscles become stronger and the skin becomes resilient. The user looks refreshed because the droopy skin has been revitalized. Resistance exercise has proven to tone and lift the muscles in your body. Facial muscles are no different. They, too, firm and lift with exercise. The nine-week program introduces two easy-to-perform exercises per week that target fifteen areas of the face and neck. This highly effective program will improve your upper eyelids, your brows, your upper cheeks and double chin, jaw line, turkey neck, wattle, vertical forehead lines and much, much more.

Really works, and makes your face FEEL better too!,

This book really works. She explains the exercise by saying which emotion to imitate...i.e. looked surprised, or she might say show skepticism, or prissy, or humorous smile...etc. My face not only looks better (it actually was slightly sore even though I had been doing a different face routine religiously with Judith Olivia's "face aerobics"--I still like that one too, but feel this is more muscles worked in shorter time )This is a book, which is the only downside for me. If this came out on DVD I would buy it in a heartbeat. Then again having the book is more portable, we just got back from a camping vacation and I could still do the exercises every day even without a dvd and tv. She shows a great pic of her face doing each exercise and gives tips on how to do it, and also tells you what muscle you are using and gives an optional accupressure spot to gently massage (very easy to do and feels great) It really works. What surprised me most was my face felt less frozen...Iam only 31 and didn't even know my face had become "frozen" but i feel like emotional reactions come easier now for me. Again, Ididn't even know that had become a problem either. It really opened up my palatte of facial expressions! Meaning I feel like an artist with more colors to chose from. I love how my face looks also! I usually do this in the mornings, I keep the book on an end table near my favorite chair, and do this while my 4 year old watches sesame street. At first it took me about an hour to read threw and really do correctly, but now I fly threw it in only 30 minutes....and I still have time to clean the floors before sesame street is over. ...It would also be easy to do at night while watching a favortie show...just do it on the commercials. Your mirror reflection will thank you! ( I also do the eye bag excercise additonally while brushing my teeth since I want to work on my eyes most) This is a great book, and I hope I look as great as the beautiful author at her age!!!! it makes old age sound fun if I could look like that! I got this book a few days ago and was disappointed at first glance -- the acupressure information was cursory and theChinese physiognomy aspect, which I would love to know more about, was pretty minimal. I settled down to the actual exercises today, however -- the pairing of emotion/phrase and photo makes it easier to "get" the subtle movements required than any meticulous step-by-step description of which muscle to move when. This is "method face-lifting," you might say -- think yourself into the attitude and you're doing the exercise. It's intuitive and it's fun -- certainly worth a try. Make a video and I'll buy that, too!

I found this book to be a wonderful alterntive to plastic surgery and got a special bonus of a mental "uplift" at the same time...A great way to take years off your face

What first struck me about this book were the pictures which, at first, were quite funny. As I read on and started understanding the underlying reasons behind the "funny faces" it became obvious that what Ms. Elinwood is presenting is a fun way to radically change both your perceptions of yourself and how you are perceived by others. It helps that this presentation is so easy to read, understand and implement. I would encourage anyone who is contemplating a face lift or who just wants to look and feel better to try this out. It works for men as well as women and...it's fun.

Horrible!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Timeless Face: 30 Days To A Younger You Through Face Reading, Acupressure, and Toning (Paperback)
I am clearly in the minority here, but I found this book useless and insulting. The accupressure diagrams are terrible, with very little written instruction to assist finding them. For someone who may never have attempted accupressure, there was no mention made of locating the points based on using your individual finger width, or about the slightly tender sensation that indicates you've found the pressure point. The majority of the book is about facial exercises. Most of them seemed extreme--by that I mean quite a bit of contorting and hard clenching of the face. I found that disturbing, but on page 14 when I read that the author suggests pulling on facial muscles, "lengthwise and widthwise as best you can" in order to "stretch" them, I was completely horrified. "Stretch" the muscles (and, of course, the skin on top)? While she quickly contradicts herself by adding the caveat "be gentle", any plastic surgeon or dermatologist can tell you this a recipe for certain, irrevocable damage! A doctor giving this advice would be called incompetent, and rightfully so, yet because it's in a book with vague, mystical references as to why it will work, I'm sure there are people out there right now tugging away on their vulnerable facial skin and doing damage they can't even fathom. Maybe after I recover from the "advice" in this book I'll purchase one of the small devices that fits in the mouth and, through resistance, works muscles with minimal contorting (these were first developed to help stroke victims regain facial control). But for now, I'll eat well, drink water and stay out of the sun. And, of course, I would never, EVER, purposefully tug on my face. PLEASE, even if you hate this review, think twice before you let some stranger convince you to pull and "stretch" your facial skin. I'm begging you. |
