Why is it necessary to judge an item based solely on it's price rather than on merit? This is one of the best westerns ever made, and ran for nine seasons when it was originally produced. Each episode is one and a half hours long and this set has been completely remastered -- all things considered, I can't wait to finally have a such a great dvd set added to my collection!

I have waited a long time for this western to be released and will be buying it immediately. It was a top class, well written show and worth every cent. I find it hard to understand the people who complain about the price. I live in Australia and it is far cheaper for me to purchase from the US, including exchange rates and postage.

I agree with both reviews so far but I have a huge comment about the DVD/Cable connection. I tried to record this program on my DVD player and it would not let me. I noticed that it is just out on DVD when they are having marathons of this as well as Have Gun Will Travel. Both are now (all of a sudden) going to be out on DVD in March. I will probably be the sucker I am and pre-order The Virginian, but only because I really like the series. I don't like the price either but oh well. I just hope whoever's pockets my jobless money is lining is someone who needs to send their kids to college.

I will not be buying this dvd because I absolutely refuse to pay this unbelievable price. I also refuse to pay the price for the first season of Bonanza. This is highway robbery. You can keep your dvds.
