I love the established rules behind time travel in books, TV and movies.

For example, a certain movie implies that if you come into contact with your past self, you'll both spontaneously combust because of the paradox created. Or that if you go back in time and kill your grandfather, you'll cease to exist (same goes for not hooking your parents up at the "Enchantment Under The Sea" dance). So when I got the chance to pick up "Timely Persuasion", I was hooked from the first few pages.

What would be the first thing you would do if you had the means to travel back in time? Would you stop 9/11 (or do your best to try)? Would you stop one of your favorite musicians from taking their life? Or would you stop your sister from making one of the biggest mistakes in her life?

This book answers those questions and many more, and does it with a wink to the world of music, specifically song lyrics. Half of the fun of this book is trying to remember the songs whose lyrics are inserted into dialog, used as chapter headings, etc.

A fun read, and the kind of book that presents time travel in an intelligent, and thoughtful manner.

Timely Persuasion allows those constrained by practicality to relax and enjoy their imaginations. This book was very well thought out, incorporating structured time travel rules alongside ridiculous situations and a touch of randomness! Plus, for music lovers, there's must be over 100 song lyrics hidden throughout the book.

Every time I had the question "wait, how would that work..." the author had a clever answer waiting in the next sentence. For example, if you can pass through walls and doors, you're probably going to struggle trying to climb a set of household stairs. As you can imagine, this often became an awkward predicament for the main character.

I never though I would enjoy a time travel book, but Timely Persuasion proved me wrong. Not to mention, the humor is witty and subtle...which makes it hilarious!
